Title: Most demoralizing moments?
Post by: oTRALFZo on May 29, 2009, 10:05:53 AM
What is the worst of the worst situations you can be in?
1) Being mainguned by a tank in your fighter..I know this happens a lot, still stinks when it does though
2) Having your AC shot down by the SB
3) Having your 262 chased by a 234
4)Trying to vulch the runway and having that guy parked on the runway shoot you down
5) ^^^ same as above, but augering
6) shot down by me  :D..the noobiest of the noobs

Give some funny input

Demoralizing is driving an M3 to town who's base is under a BLANKET of GREEN AC and GV's.

Watch 1 lone IL2 up from the base...

"guys...get that IL2 I have troops and almost to town."

"chatter chatter chatter....I really vuched that guy...ha ha ha"

"GUYS....IL2 UP....Heading at my M3!"

"chatter chatter chatter....you #$@#$@# that guy was dead...why did you shoot him??!?!?....Kill Stealer!!!!"
"am not"
"r too"
"am not"
"r too"

"BREAK BREAK BREAK...I have TROOPS for the TOWN ...PLEASE KILL THE IL2"

"there  I vulched that guy...try kill stealing him"
"STFU"
"you STFU"
"NO....U.....STFU!!!!"

"WILL SOMEONE KILL THIS IL............ka-thunk thunk thunk BOOM"

Then they wonder why I didn't bring more troops.

THAT ....is demoralizing.

This time of year...reaching the limit of squelches just as SqueekJr, ace918947652, and lolzOMG begin detailing their flight on country channel.

Easily forgiven if they take the advice and use range instead....unless you are in range.

Spending two hours singlehandedly defending a CV group only to be killed by your own puffy ack right after you disengage and try to land.

Or having an M3 sneak through the GV cordon and grab a base while you are on final after an epic base defense.

Or my favorite- an even matchup well away from the horde with a damn good stick and the servers start acting up, booting you both out after you FRs drop to 2.

Shooting someone's tail off, then getting shot down as their aircraft rears up on it's behind and the guy opens up with everything he has.  I have been hit a few times by this, but only shot down once, when i was in a Mossie and the guy set me on fire with one ping.

Getting shot down by friendly ack or puffy ack while defending a base is also pretty demoralising.

Explaining to noobs what the: (delete as appropriate) Bestest/Fastest/Bestest Turner aircraft is.

RTBing with 8 kills in an F4U-4 while about out of gas, and about 5 miles from my landing approach, field in site, when:

*The War has been won by the Bishops*

Bases immediately change, and I'm now about 200 miles from the nearest friendly field and without enough gas to make it anywhere. I fly as far as I can out of dar so I'm no longer flashing the base and set down in the field to wait out the disco.

An enemy P-51 (NOT the country who owns the field) flies ~5000yds overhead, pursued by a friendly in a 262. Somehow that P-51 is  outrunning a 262 travelling at over 500mph level flight. P-51 flies past, then decides to come back to pick me off, (the 262 still on his 6) and crashes into me. And he gets a kill on me 30 seconds before the boot to desktop.

Yeah, D3a is usually my answer to the fastest.  Shame we don't have Km/h on the German aircraft dials, may be able to fool them that their 110C is actually doing 500+ mph.

Another demoralizing moment is getting a join request off someone you do not know.  I usually up a jeep or m3, accept, then go on a nice scenic drive somewhere, possibly even base jump off some nice big hills.

Fly over an enemy field that is being vulched and watch a spit16/lgay7 go wheels up, straight vertical for 4-5k, and shoot down your plane cruising at 350.

Same thing with above 2 planes going wheels up off runway and chasing down your 190/temp/51 that just did a 400 mph pass on the runway.

Don't forget blowing youself up with your own bomb.

I'll have to give people a pass on this one.  One would think if it must travel 1000 feet to go boom on the enemy it certainly shouldn't go boom dropping it 50 feet.

Do you call this a "dumb" bomb?

Have a long fight against a good opponent, then some noob gives you a join request, and the other guy gets one shot right in the cockpit.

OR, have an advantage the whole fight, giving the guy nothing but rubber bullets, and you give him one shot, just ONE shot, and it goes right into the cockpit.

1. Taking a 262 for the first time this year, spotting a low F6F trailing a squaddie, lining up for an easy kill, %^$%^$&*#!!! compressing and giving the guy a proxy.  :cry
2. Taking up a 51B, lining up a high closure rear-aspect shot pinging him the whole way and ramming yourself up the other guy's rear because darnit, you thought you were in a jug and it's fun flying through the debris of your opponent...
3. Letting 2-3 damaged cons land at their field during a sortie, later same night you try to up at a vulched field and get schwacked before clearing the hangar.
4. Losing calibration during a 1v2, stalling because of artificial right bank, getting shot down, bailing, getting strafed and killed after boots on ground. (In their defense I still had my .45)

Lighting up an F-4U with sprites prop to tail.  He fell below my dash where I couldn't see damage and I got a kill.  The kill was the proxy of another plane, I mistook it for his and somehow he still had a plane to shoot me down with while thinking I was clear.  That's not the most humiliating, but this happened a few nights ago.

Here's a humiliating moment I gave someone else that he probably never knew.  Given what led up to it, my most rewarding shot in AH ever: No One Here Gets Out Alive (http://www.staceyblood.com/ah/sd/films/190_out_of_gas.ahf)

LOL. Reminds me of a time when someone accused me of making an "impossible" shot. We arranged a 1v1 in Hurri 1s and met at 15k. I got guns on him and removed parts but was low E and inverted so engine cut out.  Stalled and floated down 10k in an inverted stall w/o engines.   I had time to try everything I could think of  before hitting the water :furious

Well, I had this turnfight.. we ended up going in circles until opponent finally cokked up and had to leave the turn... I follow at about 300y... we had literally been in the fight for 5 minutes and my arm was already stiff from weight training earlier.... I couldnt hit the easiest shot ever, i just couldnt move my arm/wrist it was just completely locked.. i sprayed about half my ammo, completely un able to aim then i over overshoot, we both stall speed, he augers a split second before me........

My gunnery is just terrible as it is unless I'm taking quick snapshots and their plane is all over my screen.

i think that 1,000 feet travel is either horizontal, or verticle. i think the blast radius of some of the larger eggs is enough to kill a buff at 500 to 700ft alt. in theory, i think htat at that alt, going fast enough on release, they could travel 1k horizontal, and still be underneath you, thus damaging or killing you.

i could be wrong though.

We had a good sized bomber mission going of 6-7 bomber formations and we flew for about 10-15 minutes trying to get out of the darn mountainous terrain until we all crash landed on the side of a mountain laughing our heads off.  :rofl More funny than demoralizing I guess.

You see a good 1v1dogfight happening and you sit and wait for the victor at only slightly co-e and 3-4k out not wanting to go for easy pick or other dweebery since you enjoy a good fight yourself.  While waiting, another con comes in and mixes it up with you and you almost have him and then the other guy you left alone earlier comes in and picks you and he turns out to be a better player.   :cry

haha I came back from being afk once and it said I had shot down Bigamer (back when he was named Bisexual gamer instead of Biggamer).

It also said he had collided into me. I had an irrelevant fuel leak. Poor guy.

It also said he had collided into me. I had an irrelevant fuel leak. Poor guy.

Also my gunnery is quite clearly better when I'm AFK as I had infinity hit percentage that kill.

Bwahahahaha. I love it!

Heading home after a few kills, and hitting X ( at least i thought I did ), then going to take a leak, or grab a beer. Returning to screen, only to watch in utter amazement, how low I am, and compressing into the sea. This is typical of perk rides for me.  :cry

Diving in on an enemy who pulls up, as you pull up your planes wings suddenly decide to take a leave of absense. :(

i think that 1,000 feet travel is either horizontal, or verticle. i think the blast radius of some of the larger eggs is enough to kill a buff at 500 to 700ft alt. in theory, i think htat at that alt, going fast enough on release, they could travel 1k horizontal, and still be underneath you, thus damaging or killing you.

i could be wrong though.

Theoretically you are right.  1000 feet any direction will get it done.  But I've dropped bombs by mistake on the deck when trying to drop my ext pod and boom I go.  I'm sure it didn't even travel 100 feet.  Should have been no blast notification just like when you dive bomb too low and you don't hear the boom.  Seems to be a real conflict going on here unless I'm just totally missing something, which is entirely possible.

Crashing into an afk plane.

Ha!  I did that.  Imagine what the guy had to think coming back and seeing a kill.  Spooky, indeed.

Dam dude, I have to go and explain that to people!!!  Demoralizing to the end.

Other then that.......... lawndart a 262?  Not kill 3 Lancs?  My aim is off?

It's a game!

If you really want to know.............. It was '96 Kosovo.  I'm not in the military, all the rough stuff was done.  But for a good hour and a half I thought she wanted to come to America.  Came to find out she was working.  That, was demoralizing.

I didn't fix anything, i just quoted the author and said Fixed.
