Hey for you guys that like tactical FPS games, this one is the ONE. It looks like its going to be 1,00000000 times better then the first few variants of AA. There are so many new features and upgrades, Bullets have physical properties now, a round will richochet of certiant surfaces depending on the angle it strikes! also if your character gets shot in the foot it will impare your running. If you get shot in the arm it will effect your shooting ability, also depending what size round and velcoity it will depend how fast you bleed to death! You can even hear the bullets going past your head how they acctualy would sound! For a FREE game i think this is going to be EPIC!

nice :aok
AA is a great sim, lets hope theyve given Iculus a decent budget and permission to port AA to Linux again :pray
One thing I particularly like, and think might be worthwile for AH is the offline training you have to complete before you're allowed to play online.

One thing I particularly like, and think might be worthwile for AH is the offline training you have to complete before you're allowed to play online.
While WB didn't force you to do offline training, I practised offline untill I could sufficiently beat the drones and then moved online.
It smoothed the learning curve a lot although I was surprised how much more demanding it was to play against human players. So I like the idea in general.
However it sucks if you lose your account info for a reason or another - like now when I stoped playing for years and would like to give AA3 a try.

well, i think what your saying is you wish you had your AA account so you could just login and play. You can't. everyone who used to play AA1-2.5 will have to make a new account because AA3 is a completely diffrent game. if you go to www.aa3.americasarmy.com (http://www.aa3.americasarmy.com) you can reserve a name so when it is released you'll have a accoutn ready.

Bah! Try the real thing. ;)
But what happens when you get lag in RL?
-
Been playing the beta... what a buggy mess it is.
Hope they get it together. Heard it will be a 7/4 release.

AA2 was really buggy on release too. Fortunately I'll be overseas on vacation during the release so I'll get down to it probably after first patches.

well the basic training is pretty easy and doesnt take too long to blast through, however the SF E&E test is a pain in the a**e :uhoh
-
Ya I'm sure they'll fix the bugs in time, just the random CTD get annoying.
I'm excited. Two realism shooters on the U3 engine coming out.
Red Orchestra Heros of Staligrad and AA3.
Got my WW2 and Modern Warfare fixes.

BTW

Bah! Try the real thing. ;)
I believe that was the whole point of AA in the first place.
-
i always enjoyed the online of Americas Army better, but ill try and see what if i can get this. looks real fun.
-
I believe that was the whole point of AA in the first place.
It was intended as a recruiting tool, yes.
-
It is a good game.
And like several mentioned, totally free.
-
The full game is now preloading on STEAM for a release next week.
Today Fileplanet opened the beta to all accounts, you don't need to be a subscriber to get in.

I used to play the first AA, but quit because it turned out to be quite clumsy catch-a-grenade -contest in the long run.
Has the "touch&feel" improved since then ?
And i dont mean it should be like Team Fortress, but the character animations etc were really annoying back then.
-
Well, the characters is what they have been working on.
You should be able to work you characters out more now.
You can basically choose there career.
The aspect of the game should change as well.
The more you work in team, the more points you will get.
The honor system is fading as well, there are gonna be several things that will influence the advance in your characters career.
-
I've been through most of the training. Haven't gone online to play yet. Anyone here have a server you know of that would be fun to play without joining a clan?
-
www.303rdlsg.com
They have a server for the current version of AA and will have one for 3.0
Always a nice bunch to play with.
-
On steam you can pre download it so when tthey release it on the 17th you can just start it up! I pre downloaded mine today :)
-
I've gotta get it on steam then. Hehe.
-
Well the game released. As you can tell by the hordes of screaming spoiled kids, the game launched incomplete.
Looks like the "Army bureaucracy "ruined this game.
Here is the details.
Read this link 1st.
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/48427/Americas-Army-Development-Studio-Closed
Then make your way to this post.. from a dev.
http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=297797
Sad to see this happen. The game has potential.
-
Well, that's pretty epic.
Personally, I logged in, the auth server bit it, and deleted my account halfway through training. That was cool.
-
Yeah personally AA3 is crappy to me. Every time I click a link my game freezes and I have to close it, and every time I start the game, before I do I have to restart my comp...can't get past BCT because of server load.
-
read my links.
The game was released way to early, full of know bugs but the Army went ahead with it.
Your better off deleting it than complaining about the auth server not working, because it isn't.
-
I copied the devs post because I'm sure they will delete it asap.
"
I worked as a Dev at AA Emeryville for the last year and a half and I hope I can appeal to your rationality and common sense. I would like you to imagine trying to build a game with an impossible deadline, steadily declining workforce (via firings), A hiring freeze, constantly being fed misinformation, having the "higher ups" completely ignore your weekly plea for either A) more time, or B) more manpower, working a ton of unpaid overtime, pouring your heart and soul into a misadventure only to have the uniformed community scoff at you for uncontrollable variables..... RIGHT when you've just lost your job.
There are problems with the release beyond the devs control. In fact, the bureaucracy is so convoluted that you can't even begin to imagine the breadth and scope of B.S. the devs had to deal with daily. in short, imagine being the subcontractor of a subcontractor of a contractor to the government. Sure Millions of dollars may have been poured into this project, but how much do you think made it to the actual DEV team, the people MAKING the game, after it was filtered by the bureaucracy?
I realize if you are a gamer, you rightly expect a game to work. period. But I would ask that you imagine for a second that you actually DON'T understand what it takes to make this particular game, and you really don't understand the many obstacles that were placed in front of the Devs... in nerdy terms: A Kobiyashi maru.
What I would like you to understand is that the Devs did everything they could, worked a TON of unpaid overtime, put their time and passion into an un-winnable situation, and were effectively stabbed in the back. Many of these guys are my close friends, they have family to take care of, and overpriced rent to deal with. They just came off busting their butts for months, to be let go, without warning. Perhaps a little empathy is in order here.
Almost every multiplayer online game has problems upon release. These problems become exaggerated when a development team is kept in constant turmoil and paranoia via misinformation and a high rate of employee turnover. When the people you trust around you are being let go, it becomes difficult to emotionally invest yourself in the titanic sinking ship. Nonetheless, I can tell you the Devs STILL pushed themselves as hard as they could.
Furthermore, the problem with the game at this point, has everything to do with the authentication servers being slammed, A.K.A not a controllable variable by the Devs. Sure there are bugs, they WERE being fixed, and now you'll be lucky to see any fixes in the near future.
For those of you who think Redstone arsenal will do a better job, well.... I won't have to tell you that you're sadly mistaken because you'll see for yourself.
I'm not sure why i've felt compelled to write this when I'm sure it will get deleted, or even scoffed at further, but I hoped to let the fans know that we tried as hard as we could and are very bummed to see the fruits of our labor shoved at gamers like a heaping pile of crap. "

I did read your links, and was posting my personal experience along with them.
I know the server lost my account as I was suddenly unable to update my account information. When I requested it to send my password, it said my email and username were unregistered. I then was able to create a new account under the same details, but the game wouldn't log in.
-
I read the links...just saying from my POV...I feel for the Devs, I've had the same happen to me before.
-
Yea, it won't even run on my computer, as soon as i load a BCT level my character starts turning to the left and everything is a polygon. And now for some reason AH2 keeps crashing when i get on, so i am going to get a new graphics card and proccesser. :frown:

In the process of downloading right now.. I'll let ya know how it is! :rock

We already know.

Oh...Sorry....
Well, anyway, it's plagued with issues.... I wouldn't even bother the download until at least the major issues have been worked out....
-
I couldn't even get through the obstacle course.. After standing up from the prone position, my mouse movement won't translate to the game except for pitch (looking up and down)..
It took more than several hours to finally register and it delete my AA2 account... What a waste of time and hard drive space... :furious
-
Well I have AA3 and the only problems I had were the first day. I did training missions over and over as they would record.
Now I have had no problems since the first day and it seems that everything is smooth on my end. Yet to have a freeze or a record problem and everything running smoothly so far knock on wood.
