OK..did an Fdisc on the old HDD..I am currently running SP2 ONLY...Will give it a week or 2 before moving up and updating to SP3..Want to see how the x52 runs..I.e. if it loses calibration and some other things..
DID NOT do anything for my visual anomalies in-game though... :cry
-
OK..Anomolies have calmed down a bit..I have the CCC (ATI) enabled..tommorrow.I will try the ray adams tray tools..
X52 did NOT uncalibrate :salute once tonight.nor did it blink...played about 4-6 hours..
-
If you are getting stuff like game anomalies and losing profiles etc. you very likely have some hardware component bad and just clinging to life.
-
I dont think so ripley..the build is about a year old..stable in all other ways..
My X52 has NOT uncalibrated or ONE light flickered since yesterday and being in-game for hours.the problem isnt losing profiles,the problem is like many others who use x52's...losing calibration.
I am using the CCC but will be switching to ray adams tools sometime today..
-
OK,played pretty much all day,and NOT ONE blink on the x52...ran like a champ as opposed to how it has been since updating to SP3 some time ago...actually about a year ago I believe..usually blinks quite a few times a day..
I may not go more than a week without updating to SP3,as I am pretty limited in where I can go online..Now granted,it may of been something else other than SP3 which was causing my 52 to uncalibrate.Will know in a few days when I do update to SP3..
The game has been running pretty good.still getting polygons and black rectangles crawling along the tops of "SET" features like,hangars and town buildings,which go away and stop as I get closer to them...
-
I've never installed SP3 and would be shocked if SP3 is your actual culprit.
-
and u have problems with an x52 uncalibrating???
-
I used to have an X52 and now have a CH Fighterstick. I'll never recommend Saitek products to anyone. It's probably your pots on the stick that are dirty. My stick didn't last 6 months before the throttle axis was broken, buttons (trigger included) stopped working.

ditto.

The only pot on the X52 is the twisty rudder control. Everything else is controlled with optical sensors.
While I've heard of a few people with calibration issues on these, I personally have only calibrated my stick twice. The first when I installed it almost two years ago, and the second after I reinstalled Windows 5 months ago.
This is with XP Professional, 32 bit using a powered USB hub.
I have heard that some people have problems with the cable coming slightly unplugged at the back of the stick or throttle, although that's never been an issue for me...

How do you like the CH stick mashburn and witch model do you have?
I have almost always used a Xtreem 3d pro.....
there cheap and work pretty well but i am tempted by the CH.
I wont put the green out for an X52....
2 reasons.....looks like cheap krap
and i always hear bad things...

I'm pissed I never went to this stick sooner. :rock After going through 3 X45's in 3 years and the X52, this stick has been great!
-
OK..update ...
Since I went back to SP2 on windows XP,have not had one light even try to flicker..been rock solid.."KNOCK ON WOOD"...
I will be installing SP3 in the next day or so,and will let you know what comes of it..
I was having flicker EVERYDAY,and calibration issues everyday..Even when I F-disced about 6 months ago,installed SP3,installed x52,within 24 hours,calibration issues..This time I have waited and no calibration issues what-so-ever...
-
OK..loaded up SP3,wont be able to play until tommorrow,will post tommorrow night about how it went as far as the x52

NO.. the X52... http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x52.htm (http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x52.htm)
X52 Flight Control System
Developed using customer feedback from our previous award-winning X36 and X45 stick and throttle controllers, the X52 Flight System is the premium stick model outside our Pro Flight Range.
Featuring 23 buttons, three 8-way hat switches and 7 control axes, the X52 gives you 47 basic commands plus the control axes. But when you include the programming options provided by powerful Saitek Smart Technology programming software, which allows you to make use of the 3 position mode switch and Pinkie shift switch, the total number of programmable commands rises to 282!
And if this isn’t enough, you can program even more commands by adding more modes with the programming software. With the X52, you no longer need to touch your PC keyboard during flight simulation so you can keep your hands planted where they need to be – on the stick and throttle.
With all those commands, things could get confusing so you can use the Multi-Function Display (MFD) screen to check programmed command names and use the clock and stopwatch function for timing the legs of your flight plan.
The X52 also uses magnetic hall effect, non-contact sensors for the stick movement, so you won’t ever need to worry about employing a ground crew for regular services.
* The most fully integrated PC Flight Control System
* Precision engineering, ergonomic design and a detailed fusion of features deliver maximum aeronautical authenticity
* Advanced programming provided by Saitek Smart Technology (SST) software
* Enhanced gameplay through intuitive Multi-Function display (MFD)
* lluminated buttons and MFD - ideal for low light environments
* Rubber grips and ergonomic design for increased comfort and fatigue-free gaming
* Part metal construction for increased durability and authenticity
* Includes Roger Wilco Chat software - the ideal accompaniment for on-line multiplayer gaming
Joystick
* Precision centering mechanism, non-contact technology on X and Y axes and constant spring force reduce free play, improve control and increase durability
* 2-stage metal trigger; 2 primary buttons in 1 convenient position
* 4 fire buttons including missile launcher with spring-loaded safety cover for instant access
* Conveniently positioned metal pinkie switch provides shift functionality to double up on programmable commands
* 2 X 8-way Hat Switches
* 3D rudder twist
* 3-position rotary mode selector switch with LED indicators
* 3 spring-loaded, base-mounted toggle switches for up to 6 programmable flight commands
* 5-position handle adjustment system to suit all hand sizes
Throttle
* Progressive throttle with tension adjustment, detents for afterburner and idle
* 2 fire buttons
* Scroll wheel with built-in button
* Mouse controller / hat switch with left mouse button
* 8-way hat switch
* 2 x rotary controls
* Smooth-action slider control
* Clutch button initiates ‘safe mode’ to allow on-the-fly profile selection, or to display button functionality without activating

OK..I have DL SP3..and ALL windows updates...So far not ONE flicker on my X52...seems to be working the best it has in 1.5 years...
I did NOT DL the windows update for ANY saitek controllers..
Now I dont know where the problem was,but I do know that I used the updated drivers for X52 after I reinstalled xp this time..thats the only thing I can think I did that was not the same the last time I fdisced my HDD.. :salute

Sweet, the trigger stopped working, the throttle itself went (forcing me to use the slider on the throttle, as the thottle), 3 hats went.
Saitek is garbage, now stop hijacking the thread.
