Title: Fuel tank orders
Post by: moot on June 01, 2009, 12:53:33 AM
In the interest of the best possible agility for all planes, from this means, this is a wish for revised fuel tank filling/draining orders and corresponding distribution in fuel loadout choices (25/50/75/100%) for any planes that need it (like the P51 and Fw190s got).  Suggestions welcome...  I'll start:

The mossie would benefit from the outer tanks being filled last and drained first.  IIRC they're slightly ahead of the inner tanks, but most significantly outside of the roll axis.  I vaguely recall the AUX tank also not being a clear cut case, so a "safe" bet would be wishing for the only change to be the outer tanks; until someone shows a schematic (I know there's at least one, but lost it) to answer this detail.

The Ki84 would probably benefit from the wing tanks filling last and draining first.

I have no evidence to support this but perhaps they are currently set up to be used as they actually were historically now.

I don't feel like doing the research for fuel tank order.

However, you are currently free to drain whatever tank you wish with Shift + F.

Yes, I know what you are wishing for but perhaps there is actually a method to the madness as it is already.

I disagree on the Ki-84... Claims that draining wings first improve manuverability are placebo effect. The rate of roll is already good/great, and I've been flying this thing with a love for it since day 1 when it came out, and can say it makes no difference which tanks you drain first, but rather how much fuel total is onboard at any given moment.

There is precedent from previous updates whereby HTC will try to accomodate player wishes with regard to fuel burn order.

Supporting hard evidence?

wrongway - Like Krusty replied, Pyro changed the Fw190 and 51 fuel tanks at the players' preference.  He came on the forum and simply asked how we wanted them set.  That said, the real way to "have them as they were historically" is to give us the choice of draining them when it was allowed.. And then to collapse that into automation, the same way trim is.  The same way fuel tanks are now.. Only with the order changed around to give everyone an even ground to compete on (since the 190s got it.. why wouldn't others too?) so that the real deciding factor is the pilot, not the plane.
