If you're typing something, and get surprised by an attacker/crappy flying, it would come in handy to just hit escape and have the radio closed.
This way you don't have to post unfinished nonsense, or backspace an entire sentence while being attacked!

+1 :aok
-
press End, press and hold shift, press home, press delete. Not as quick as you'd like but still faster than backspacing everything. Or press tab. The windows'll still be there but you'll get your keyboard back for flying.
-
Enter, send what you have and fly.

Enter, send what you have and fly.
Oh I can see this now.
Heres a person typing they need troops, and instead we get "I need T". Then were going to get everyone in the game named T, or even possibly everyone whose name begins with T. Then the hordes will come in more strength. Oh the humanity. :P

Enter, send what you have and fly.
It is what I have always done. Clear up any misconceptions later!

Yes, but this is my wish. Not asking for a quicker way!
-
Alt f4 usually does the trick no? Just kidding.
-
That's low.... :lol
I do like the wish. I use moot's method myself, though.
-
Stop Typing
-
Or die with dozens of 11111111111111's in your text bar while trying to get to the pilot and recover from the dive :D
Seriously, it sounds like a simple but effective wish.
-
when i need to send a msg quick i hit enter a few extra times for good measure. then i :cry.
-
That's actually happened to me because of my fast typing. I would be helping someone resolve a dot-bug issue and would end up bailing because of hitting Enter on all those short and simple messages. :P

Click on another piece of the GUI, like the clipboard or (most easily) the text buffer. The "cursor" will come out of the text bar and the keyboard will function as if the text entry area wasn't even there. More bar clutter on the screen, but workable.

It's better to press Tab. You can then press shift-tab to directly bring focus back to the radio input. If you don't click anywhere else in the mean time.
