Going by my fighter rank it appears I'm in competition with only 2,398 other players. Would that be accurate?
I've seen the number as high as in the 4,000's in months past.
ID Overall Fighter Bomber Attack Veh/Boat
TOOLS 707 2398 879 65 290
The highest overall rank I could find in my short search was 2719
Rotorhed 2719 2398 1397 1278 1732
Do these numbers reflect the actual amount of players AH has?
EDIT: Or as players begin to fly this camp does the # go higher?...... which would mean we would have to wait till the end of camp and find a brand new player to gauge upon. Hummm (http://thesquad.forumotion.net/users/a9/77/24/39/smiles/416166.gif)
But then that still would not account for any of the paying customers that did not fly at all.
WMLute is probably very close I would imagine.

No "official" number of players has ever been given.
I personally have always "guessed" around 6,000 ish accounts.

This would be around my guess also. 5500-6000ish

No rank only tells you how many players are ahead of you, not how many others you're tied for last place with.

EDIT:
Note to self: Be careful when trying to explain complicated things in a foreign language :o

Huh.. I thought the way it worked was that players with sorties would all be ranked sequentially (ties excepted), and the unranked players would all be tied for rank = (number of ranked players with sorties)+1.
Player #1: Sorties: 5 Rank: 1
Player #2: Sorties: 2 Rank: 2
Player #3: Sorties: 1 Rank: 2
Player #4: Sorties: 0 Rank: 4
Player #5: Sorties: 0 Rank: 4
Player #6: Sorties: 0 Rank: 4
?

Yes, that's how it works. My explanation was faulty. ;)

No.
It's just saying that 2719 players have flown/driven at least one sortie in the first 2 days of this tour.
The highest rank number displayed is also the total number of all ranked players in that category.
Example: If two players are tied for #4, the next player on the list will get #6, not #5.
If you find someone with no fighter sorties at all at #2357, that's indeed the total number of ranked players in that category.
#2357
Im just guessing here.... its would be the total #number of ranked players ,but not the total number of AH subscribers.....Just means thats all that have logged in and flown a sortie in a given tour...
I also guessing that score ranks are capped at 4000......Meaning only the top 4000 scoring players are listed.....

Please note had deleted the statements you quoted while you typed. I was incorrect in some way.

No. Simple to check, look at last tours top 50 player ranks and sort by "fighter".
-
Wow you guys are guessing high, I always thought it to be about 2,000
-
when i started playing in the last tour, i was just under 4k score, then i think it was around 2800 odd..so It only shows from 4k and below
-
You must be looking at the roster like i was i never look at the rank stats page.........ive never seen the roster higher than 4000... o well i ve spent enough time on something i dont care about anyways

Theres rank and score?

My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of 9,000-9,500 accounts. I did this buy dividing their annual revenue of $1,750,000.00 by 12. Then dividing that by 14.95.

I have seen bomber scores greater than 6000.
Valid point on the fact that a sortie in the tour is required. Another unknown is the number of two week trials that are included.

By the end of a camp there's normally over 5000 ranked players. Just open the clipboard and sort the roster by rank and scroll to the bottom.
You have to have flown a sortie to get ranked for the camp so this number doesn't include any subscriber that hasn't flown that month. And while moot is right in how ties and the next ranked player are shown anyone who has flown without a score is ranked 0 and they are just all tied with the first ranked player who has scored ranked #1.

How did you come up with this annual revenue? Is it published or is it your best guess of 9500 paying costumers times 15, times 12..which is actually 1,710,000? 9,755 customers ='s 1.75 mil a year

And where did you come up with HTCs annual revenue?
-
Not to mention there is a fairly large pool of guys who only fly scenarios. Or who only log in for FSO.
Looking at late war ranks leaves out everyone from early and mid who doesn't go in there.
3-4 years ago I used to guess around 6k total accounts including doubles, shades, etc is I think a fairly good ballpark guess. But I suspect thats gone up since then.

It's okay. I'm the target of choice these days. And appropriately so I have to admit. The whole thing. My persistence and name... I would hate me too :(
