Title: TrackIR 5 problem
Post by: glacey on June 05, 2009, 03:31:13 AM
I do not know whether this is a problem with TIR 4 too because I only have 5.

Basically, the problem is that if I disable an axis or two such as x and z then using TIR the views flick between 'default' views and my mapped 'head' views + some unwanted zooming. I have also spoken to TIR support.

Here's how I found the problem :-

1. Loaded TIR 5 b3

2. Unticked the X,Y & Z axes

3. loaded AH offline Spit XVI with my seat settings

4. the views flashed between 'default' and my settings.

5. I exited AH and removed the seat setting files (2) from settings/planes which put things back to 'default'.

6. Reloaded AH and problem was gone.

The same problem happens using the TIR 4 software.

Thanks

Forgot to say that things work fine with all axes enabled. I realise there is a workaround.

Seat settings? Not sure they apply with TIR, least I have never gotten them to work.

Don't remember saying that seat settings worked with TIR. I was saying that seat seat settings interfered with TIR if you disabled an axis.

Far as the 'obvious workaround' I mentioned (ie leaving enabled but setting the axis to 'flatline'), it worked when I first tried it but has now failed.

Maybe I should clarify. I was not trying to get the seat settings to work with TIR. However, it is useful to have them because they work if disable TIR. My problem is that having seat settings interferes with proper TIR operation under certain circumstances.

I assume that most of the problems you are seeing is being able to get a good rear view in some planes and or being able to look over the nose of the plane to get a good leading shot on the enemy, of what I understand from talking to the tech support for Tracking IR the limits are within AH settings. The only way to get a better degree of movement is for AH to change some of the set limits.

That seems to be the case. It would seem that AH is less devoted to TIR than some games, yet there will come a time in the very near future when people will say 'did you really press buttons to see where you were'! Some work is required to allow full TIR views on a par with saved button views. Way I see it is that button views are a cheat 'cos you can raise your bum off the seat and remain totally stable which is why I'd like them to work with TIR :-)
