WTG! This should be a showcase of U.S. Navy planes versus German planes... you just couldn't help but turn it into a spit fest now could u buster?
-
Shut it storch! :rofl
-
only Spit enabled is the 8. If people choose to fly it, that's their choice :)

I flew there twice tonight. First time you were in a Mossie, Antivortex, and humiliated me with it I might add. Second time I observed one guy flying a Spit.
Most people who fly this setup are going to want to answer that age-old question, "How would US Navy carrier planes have done against the Luftwaffe." I wouldn't be worried about it becoming a spitfest.

Spit 8 has been apart of this setup since it's inception. Deal with it.

Spit8's only flew in the far east, read your history...

This isn't the "history" arena. But you already knew that didn't you shades?

False, Spitfire VIIIs were used in the Mediterranean, CBI and Pacific theaters by the RAF, RAAF and USAAF. When I advocated the Spitfire LF.Mk VIII be added when the Spits were redone it was with the intention that it would cover the Spit VIIIs in the Mediterranean, CBI and Pacific theaters as well as be a reasonable stand in for the Spitfire LF.Mk IXs of 1943 and early 1944. The Spitfire F.Mk IX we have in AH is not appropriate past mind-1943 and the Spitfires Mk XIV and Mk XVI are not appropriate before mid-1944. The Spitfire Mk VIII covers that year and is a reasonable stand in for the LF.Mk IX with the 'universal' wing that was predominate in Europe at that time, the performance being very similar with the major difference being greater fuel endurance.
This setup is a prime example of a place to use the Spitfire Mk VIII as a standin for the Spitfire LF.Mk IX.

Karnak, never knew that. Thanks for the info.

Good setup. :aok
It would be nice to see a few more with Navy vs Luftwaffwe birds.
Operation Anvil or Dragoon comes to mind.
Antivortex ripped off a whole list in the arena earlier as well.

I like antivortex, he's just a little.........misunderstood! :D

'Sink the Tirpitz by means of American naval aircraft'
Wasn't the Tirpitz sunk, or at least tried to be sunk, by Lancasters?
I don't know much about the AvA, not sure if these are historical setups.
-
Yes and the Lanc's are enabled on the acklies side though not at every base, read the MOTD when you enter for more info...
-
Yes frank, I only enabled the Lancs are certain bases well behind the lines so one person couldn't up and have the whole arena porked within 10 minutes. Also it's a bit more realistic.
-
That's a good idea. Also it gives you some time to get that big bag of bombs up to altitude :aok
By the way, are AvA arenas hosted by players, similar to our late H2H?
