hi superfly (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
exhaust manifold to far back from prop hub
radiator interior texture missing
wings look a bit to thick and a bit to far forward
other than that its a nice mod (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Missing wing blisters as well.

thats one reason they release pics of these planes early.
so detail & scale freaks can comb over it and look for flaws

Rear wing chords seem to be missing as well (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Also missing is Ripsnort as a beta tester in the pilot seat. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Hmm, the more I look at that intake the odder it looks.. shouldn't the casing curve in a little more? It appears too open now..

Oh, and will the Tempest be fitted with rockets? I know it could carry them, but not sure if they were used... it could carry both 45 gal tanks (like the Typhoon ones, and 'teardrop' ones also) and 90 gal drop tanks (teardrop), that much I know. Hmm, one web source claims the 45 gal (Typhoon config) drop tanks could be used as napalm bombs! Guaranteed ostie buster? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
-
Oh man, wings are way too thick, plus they do not appear to be laminar-flow design as was the Tempest in real life.

Oh, and why does the spinner appear to have only 3 prop blades?
...hehe, made ya look (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

fishu has company, or is that competition?

Here's another Tempest of the same squadron (3 Fighter Sqn). Although this is art work, it appears the colours are a little off.

PS Citabria, just checked about the wings looking too thick and too far forward - it's placement on the screenshot is identical to the Typhoon (incorrect).

Nice to see the Tempest. However, as someone else mentioned, the wings are very much too thick. The major redesign developement from Typhoon to Tempest, and the reason for the improvement in speed and climb, was the laminar flow wing. Most of the other differences sprang from the redesigned wing, for example, the fuselage was lengthened to compensate.
-
I was surprised because SUPERFLY's face is too round. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Laminar flow does not mean the wing cannot be "thick", depending on what your definition of thick is.

"The thick wing of the Typhoon caused compressability problems at high speeds and resulted in development of a 'thin wing' version originally called Typhoon II but then Tempest due to the large number of changes incorporated. These included the thin elliptical and laminar flow wing, moving the fuel from the wings to the fuselage (which was lengthened as a result) and the addition of a dorsal fin".
Maybe the mose important point here is the relocation of the fuel. In the 'Rollrates' thread under 'Aircraft & Vehicles' the Typhoon rollrate was a fraction of the current AH representation. Now if the AH Tempest has the fuel relocated to the fuselage, you would expect it to roll faster than the Typhoon.
HTC needs to be real careful here, otherwise the Tempest will roll faster than a current F-16 !

Maverick you are correct in one sense: The typical laminar flow airfoil IS a little thicker when compared to a typical WWII airfoil. However, in the case of the Typhoon, the originally designed wing was very thick. (all the Hawker aircraft seemed to start with thick wings, the Hurricane had a thick airfoil too, which was one reason its acceleration and top speed were not good) The final Tempest wing was 5 inches thinner than the Typhoon at the wing root.
Jekyll is right about the roll rate. It was much improved over the Tempest. As he said, because the wing was thinner, the fuel tanks in the wings couldn't hold as much, so more had to be packed into the fuselage, which nessesitated lengthening it by 21 inchs forward of the center of gravity. This extra length ahead of the C.G. in turn required a larger fin and tailplane to compensate.
The Laminar flow wing (as well to a certain degree the slightly higher horsepower output of the Sabre IIB at 2420) was directly responsible for the increased top speed, improved climb and acceleration of the Tempest. It also gave it an increased range over the Typhoon, as the aircraft was able to cruise at higher speed at a lower throttle setting due to the cleaner airframe. The Tempest had a range of 820 miles in clean condition.

Superfly, is there any reason that you chose not to model the tempest after Clostermann's fancier ride "Le Grand Charles" ?
-
Yup, red-nosed JF-E NV724 please (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I think we have NV994 with the black nose here.
Either that or an invasion stripe scheme would be great (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Lt Superfly finish the job 1st (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I'm sure he has a reason I just wanted to know why he didn't choose the Clostermann tempest that had all the kill markings and stuff on it . Maybe he thinks all the graffiti on Le Grand Charles would detract from it's natural beauty . After all the Le Grand Charles was painted up like a lady of the night . If it were up to me I would've selected the paint scheme of the tempest pilot who had the most kills . Hmm.. what was that American's name (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was only a GAME!!!!
You guys are never satisfied are you ??
By all means, flame my ass!, but c'mon give the man a break he works tirelessly to bring us another aircraft, which, might i add will erupt this whole "perk it" "don't perk it " "this plane is uber" etc. arguments

Echo, I think you have the wrong idea (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) We always nitpick new aircraft, that way the finished product is accurate, not to mention looks good in screenshots etc. It's called constructive feedback, we're not actually flaming him. Yeh Echo, ease up. We've been doing this to Supa Fli for ages (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Apologies, fellas
obviously i'm a newbie (so i hope thats an excuse for a let off !!)
Just seemed a little mean, thats all, but , i agree that we are all entitled to our opinions.
