I heard this a few times but really want to understand the concept.
When people say they go to the DA to duel for accounts, what exactly is expected from the looser?
Does he hand over his account to the victor, or just cancel his account?
IMO this whole idea doesnt make any sense. Being the winner, I would never really expect someone to leave the game. As the one who lost, why not just sign on to a different name?
Does anyone know of someone that actually went through with closing their own account?

I have no clue.I only DA for rides,i need all the cartoon birds i can get!
-
i closed my account and now live in a cave :D because of losing my spit 1 in DA

I was challenged to this type ogf duel awhile back during a koth. I was told that if I won, said person would pay my account for a year, with no responsibility on my part. The duel was best of 7, I was up 2:1 when suddenly company came over and he had to log. This was the last I heard from him. Figures. Oh well.
Not sure how much faith Id put into such promises or whatever. Its not like I am going to contact a lawyer for breach of oral contract.

With the new thing where you can change your own name it's pointless. If you lose, change your name, and your set.

Do you have a story to go along with this? I've never seen an actual duel with these agreed upon stakes. I've seen a player make the offer though to another player before. Of course, the other player declines every time in my experience.

The offer was to a squaddie of mine. I am just wondering exactly what is expected when someone looses that challenge. Is it a fight for "pink slips"? Is that person expected to leave AH?. I dont get it, and the whole idea doesnt make any sense, so why someone would even offer the challenge is beyond me

Not leave, just pay for the winners account....So the winner gets a free year of AH, at the expense of the loser. You see those challenges once in awhile when a person feels confident they are going to not only break out the pwn stick, but break said stick over someone's backside. Challenge is also, generally, offered during heated exchanges. That said, I've never heard of one actually being fully carried out....and I seriously doubt (in most cases, considering the conditions the duel is agreed upon) that the loser would pay anyway.
-
The loser would probably have to pay for the victors account for a month.
-
I have witnessed these types of duels a few times. (2-3)
The "winner" has as of yet made the "looser" close their account.

Sounds pretty effin stupid to me. Like gambling except you can't actually win anything, you can either make nothing or lose.
It's baseline -50% expected value with estimate adjustments based on your skill but it's always gonna be in the negatives. why?!
Hey dood, lets gamble eachother. the loser throws 15 bucks into a well and the winner gets nothing

I'll DA you for my secret decoder ring which holds the keys to everyone's accounts. :t

There was some tool that used to fly in the MW arena by the name Fireplug that liked to throw the "duel for accounts" challenge. Though, he never followed through when someone did accept the challenge.
ack-ack

i think its stupid to play this way. what ever happen to the old way two people goto the DA to duel and have fun. help each other out and teach one another :rock

Just curious, how does (would) the winner make the looser close their account?

Why in the world anybody would want the loser of a good fight to leave AH! It's hard enough to find white knuckle, sweaty palm fights! Maybe I'm just weird like that but I wouldn't want that person to leave, instead I would ask the loser for future fights! :aok

I dueled a jimmieC for the name
he popped outta nowhere (new I think) and was causing me check6 problems
and generally speaking I`m JimmyC and I would prefer to be the one & only....(sounds big headed but you know what I mean)
so dueled for the name.
I won, as I said he was new, he dually (pun intented) closed his account and started up with a new name, or changed his name which is pretty much the same thing, lose perks, squad, score etc.
I think he changed name to No2
<<S>> No2 Kudos for following through with the deal... (hope your still with us & having fun)
thats my duelling story
<S> JimmyC (the one and only :D :lol )

Why bother? The sheer agony of defeat is worse than any punishment devised by the Inquisition already.

Several years ago someone started an account with the name BaldEgle or something like that close to mine. I just whined on 200 until he changed it. :)

I'm completely against the 'duel for accounts', its stupidity in the rarest form.
Now, if you want to duel to make the other guy ride in your plane of choice for a month, ok. That could be entertaining. :devil

htis is like racing for pink slips. someone will try to "game the game" to win. would never do it. if i ever went to the da, it would be for fun.
