Title: Yak addiction broken
Post by: newz on June 07, 2009, 05:38:19 PM
Thanks to Skyrock and his excellent instruction in the DA  :aok I have been broken of my addiction
to the Yak9u. His words were along the lines of "We've got to get you out of that yak and into
something with some wing area man".
Took his words to heart and thought well "F4Us got some honkin wing, let's try that along with
his tips to ride out that stall a wee bit more".
Eureka!!!
The love for the F4U1A is born.

Welcome to the club. Just remember though more wing = more target.  :D

Yak's always seem such a small target when I run across them. Always hard to hit for me.

IMHO a skilled hog pilot is the most dangerous pilot in the game.

Bent blue winged aircraft is a thing of beauty.

Great plane! (http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss316/ren1795/agree.gif)

Remember the wings are only bent...not broken!

:furious another F4U to give me problems  :lol out of most planes I encounter in the game, a well flown F4U gives me the most problems...and when I do get a gun solution..the damn thing seems to laugh at my guns  :D

Too bad, it would of been nice to see you in a yak for some variety in the MA.

I'm still waiting for HTC to approach the low speed handling of the Corsair, everyone from Bodhi to Widewing say something isn't quite right.

Yer right it's just not turning tight enuff. A zeke gave me a hard time the other day. What's up with that?

Yup, the YAK is frustrating to say the least. . . but I'm thinking of more going the exact opposit - like the Jug. . .all that rock and roll make me very very happy.

But then I would have to change my sig.

Yap, when I was riding in the 4U's I would just take off deploy full flaps, throw on the Mary Poppins theme song and ride on out to the nearest furball and float around until the ammo was gone. :aok

I enjoy the Yak-9T.  I love the little black puffy cloud that comes when a 37mm strikes the opponent.

But, the Yak is not a primary ride.  There are simply too many choices to limit myself to just one ride.  I also love the P series USAA(C)F pursuit planes and US medium and hvy bombers.  Hell....I like all of HTCs creations except the 109 and zero series.  Something just doesnt agree with me on those.  Even then I will take one up from time to time.  Love the tanks, love the naval guns......even PT boats.....thats the great thing about this gig, so much to try, and do.

Amazing for somebody to mention, "Something just doesn't agree with me on those.".  In a post about the most disagreeable modeled a/c in the game compared to the ones he quoted.  Thank God it's make believe.  :aok

When you get good enough to have a never-ending stream of F4U-4s to fly...well, you become damn near invincible.

I'd say by then your flying the -1 and -1A most the time.

Are the 1 series the most "nimble"?

After 9 months of the Yak-9u as my primary ride I hope I've done my duty in providing variety. :salute
As some have mentioned, it is a tough bird to hit due to it's small size, and when it is flow as an interceptor
does a great job. That's what attracted me to the Yak in in first place. Now I'd like to learn the art of "stall fighting".
As I understand it, the F4U is much better in this roll than the Yak.

Feel like it, no pylons to slow you down unless you load a DT or ord. Plus you can carry more fuel with the wing tanks to survive fuel hit's. You can get them in to some crazy stalls if your really pushing it, but by far my favorites.
