At least I waited a day.. :-)
A cross between:
P-39 (engine placement)
P-38 (guns)

Would have made a good ground pounder and bomber interceptor.

I always thought that it would have been an easy conversion to jet power. At least the intake is there ans the powerplant is central.

 Now we need an Ambrosini S.S.4   :-)
