At the end of each map a window will appear with 3 (more if you want...this is just an idea) choices of maps that havent been played in a set amount of time, each player will be prompt to vote for which map will be the next to play on??? Most votes wins
possible perks will be that...Skuzzy wont get flamed for picking the wrong map
and the next map will be a crowd favorite.
Eh?

:aok

It's an ok idea overall but still:
Skuzzy wont get flamed for picking the wrong map
Maybe you should be blamed for not likeing the map that Skuzzy picked? :x
-
I like this idea :x

+10
This is actually a pretty cool idea.
I will always be voting small map tho :uhoh
-
not exactly sure how long it would take to code this but it shouldn't take too long, it doesn't involve graphics so its not like making a new plane.

I am opposed to map voting. In any game I've played with map voting, only the same 2-3 maps are played constantly.
Also, I'm generally in the minority in that I like to play on a variety of maps. I think a simple map rotation is the best approach.

make sure voting age stays 18 or above

I personaly believe that this is a great idea.

Yes please!
I love this smiley! :x :x :x :x :x

It works well in other games. :aok

Make it the 3 maps that have the littlest play time, and I'd be more OK with it.

IE:
After a map has been played it will enter a wait list, after two weeks it will then be moved to a pool list...the voting platform only pulls from the pool list and randomly picks 3 maps from the pool, the two loosing maps will then be put back into the pool and so on and so forth
So for two weeks a map can not be played twice

How would it work with the immediate disco due to the arena change?
I do like the idea though.

Well the disco doesn't happen for 4 minutes.

like spikes said theres a few minutes until the change so in that time the voting will be in process and at the change the new map will be loaded on which the players voted on.
if theres a tie then its a random pick between the two maps that tied

Perhaps this could be implemented for only one of the late-war arenas, and leave the other one as the "HTC's Choice"
I have to admit, I was skeptical, but the combination of putting a map on a 'waitlist' after being played and drawing from the maps that are least played convinced me that this could actually work. I think if you did take the three least played and offered a vote among them, then your rotation will balance out nicely since as those are played, other maps become less played... and if there is a map that is absolutely despised, it will remain on the list until HTC decides to put it out of its misery and remove it from the rotation.

ADD-IN!!
Player vote to eliminate maps from the rotation!

You're all for it untill the vote doesn't go your way.
Are you assuming everyone will vote the way you will???
The boards will light up with even more bull@#$% than we have now.
And I can see 200 now!! Vote for the Pedro map!! over and over and over and over.
Be careful what you wish for. (remember, schools out soon)

But you only have four minutes or so to listen for that. I think I can handle it. Even if the voting doesnt go my way, I'll still play the map. I think however instead of TIME being used, how about 'Number of maps played.' If we have a hard map, resets could take a while, bringing the posisblity of having one map, then another map for two weeks and then Map 1 again. Say change it to only after 3-4 maps have been played will Map 1 enter the pool for possible voting. Just a small suggestion
-
I think the way it is now is just fine. So I say...

I think if you dont have anything nice to say LEAVE OUT OF IT! :aok :rofl :x

Looking a Waystin Grizz here. Can you elaborate why you have said no? It might make for nice conversation and maybe we might be able to work something out that would please you as well. Saying No isn't very constructive.

I personally like the idea.
And your channel 200 issue... easy to fix...
/.radio 4 157
Done. :D
-
Pulling this one back from dead, i am a little tired of playing the same map over and over again, lets see if we can this ball rolling again :D
-
I'm still behind you, although the channell 200 thing sounds a bit crappy

If opposed then make sure 4 or so maps are played before the previous one can be picked again. aka the game selects maps that werent the ones picked over the last 2-3 rotations
-
This idea has merit.......... :aok

Exactly, this was brought up on the first or second page
When a map was played it would be moved to a black list and would stay there for 2-4 rotations. While in the black list, the map would not be selected for voting but after 2-4 rotations that map would be then moved to the green list. 3-4 Maps will be selected at random from the green list and be voted upon for 5-10 minutes before the arena the closes then reopens with the winning map. Maps that are not voted move back into the green list for another chance to be selected and the whole process repeats.
This would ensure that one map will not be played more than once, but however will not take away the popular maps for very long either.

popularity always wins out flipperk. otherwise id be able to have my M-18

Necessity and Chaos make together world as special and funny as it is.
So I vote for no voting map selection.
Or to have it randomly every x weeks with x random too! :old:
:salute
ps
i wish a map with multiple seasons backgrounds: winter (snow), summer (desert), ... :pray :pray :pray

:O:aok :aok :aok

Lets wipe the dust off of this thread.
I still say that this idea has great merit, given the recent whines of the community lately about the map rotation I say we vote

:rofl
-
I say lets have a poll to see how many people are aware that there's a poll. then poll the one's who are aware to see if they're interested in voting. then poll the interested to see if they would bother to cast a ballot in a map voting. then...
oh what the heck that picture was worth it grizz :rofl :rofl.

:aok +1 over a few weeks playing can't wait! :x
-
+1
But in pure speculation I'd say that the majority of players don't have the map names memorized. A lot of voting would be based on "that name sounds cool" as opposed to "that map looks cool."

wow kinda reminds me of the same thread i posted awhile ago. You should try the search bars and see what they said.

This thread was started in 2009 :aok
And bagrat read on how our solution came to, a map that was voted upon would be placed in a black list. That black list is a list of recently played maps that will be uneligable to be voted upon in the next 3-5 map rotations. After a cycle that map will be placed in a green list, in which 3 maps at random will be selected to be voted upon.
