Any thoughts of adding this monster? It could count as "uber", and use the perk system. But then, it's slow and burns fuel like a leaky Yak (500 l / 100 km). The T-34/85 would make a nice competitor.

With the exception of Scenarios, I say "great". This would be a scary thing to face in a field attack.
Of course, I also want my Il-2 introduced at the same time... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
Prolly going to need more then a IL-2 to kill it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
It was known for deflecting the massive AP shells from the IS-2's 122mm gun (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/redface.gif)
And with the gun's leathal range up to four miles, eek.
Bring on the shaped charges!

It was known for often deflecting rounds:
"One day a Tiger Royal tank got within 150 yards of my tank and knocked me out. Five of our tanks opened up on him from ranges of 200 to 600 yards and got five or six hits on the front of the Tiger. They all just glanced off and the Tiger backed off and got away. If we had a tank like Tiger, we would all be home today." - Report by tank commander Sergeant Clyde D. Brunson from 2nd Armored Division, 1945.

I have enough trouble geting the panzer to fields going at it's speed. So how the heck you are going to move that darn thing around is beyond me.
You know what we need?
ROADS

I think Pyro said that AH would have roads in the near future, but I'm not sure. Roads would probably be in the same release that will include naval units.

Hispano 20mm cannons could kill a Tiger II through the roof. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

B-Town is right,
As of now, tanks are moving fast enough as they would have been on roads. Tiger II would be just too slow.
I'll say model either Panther or T-34/85 first. Acctually T-34/85 would be a nice addition now, as it stands up good to PanzerIV.
But then again, who cares what I say - I don't drive tanks anyhow (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Now I'm not usually a gambling man, but I would be willing to bet *1 million dollars* that a hispano 20mm cannon couldnt pierce the top armor of the Tiger II's turret. I've seen one in real life, and due to the construction method of the Tiger II, u can see the varying armor thicknesses all over the tank, which I think is very neat. Even the roof armor on the tiger is thick.
-
More medium tanks first please. T-34, M-4, Cromwell, etc. Save the heavies for later. I'd rather see an IS-3 for the first heavy tank. I believe it had some combat with Japan before V-J day, and I bet it has never been modeled in a sim before either.
-
I don't know about the turret, but the rear deck wasn't very thick. I'll see if I can dig the numbers up, but I seem to recall 13mm or 17mm of armor.
My, I sure can't type today.

The Tiger II has a maximum road speed of 24 mph. That is not much slower than the IV H that we have now.

There is very little of the roof that is not covered by the turrent on the Tiger II. And the General design of the whole tanks makes strafing it futile at best; any shots would be oblique unless diving near straight down.
40mm of armor for a roof, even if it has no slope.
And the top road speed was rarely used due to engine strain, and the difficulty of replacing a thrown track on that thing. And to even get that speed it had to be a VERY good road. Moving a TigerII down a dirt road after a rain was very difficult because it was so easy to bog down.
Also keep in mind the Tiger II's engine had a rather poor cooling, and it was very bad about over heating when running under off-road strain or higher RPM ranges when moving down the road.
Intended as a massive offensive weapon it's real role became defensive because of size and weight, but it did it well and would probably serve the same role in AH.

I believe that the P39s 37mm cannon could pierce 40mm of armor.

Still it would depend on the type of 37mm round and the angle to which it hits the armor. Hitting 40mm of armor at perfectly perpendicular, penetrating, and still having enough kenetic energy to do damage once through the the armor is not very good, and it's nearly impossible to make a perpendicular shot to the roof (parallel to the ground) so you'd have to account for the obliqueness of the shot. The take into account the area exposed on the rear deck is only 6-8 feet between the end of the engine plate and the start of what the turrent covers on the Tiger II.
Ouch. Best bet would be bombing it with 500 or 1000 pounders.
It's not impossible, but setting up a good shot, even if it's sitting still, would be difficult.

mx22 "Actually T-34/85 would be a nice addition now, as it stands up good to a PanzerIV." Egads man! not only would a T34/85 stand up to a PzKpfw IV H, it would blow the frickin' doors clean off and then some.

Yep, T34/85 is nice but It's bigger, faster, better armor and much better gun (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I think either a T-34/76c, Sherman M4A3E8 or Sherman M4A3E2-76 would be a better match. T-34's were very good tanks, but you'd have to go back to early models to match the PzIV.

If they do a T34 I hope it is a T34/85. The pzIvH can still kill it, there is no chance for a AAMG the tank is faster but its ability to shoot on the move is much worse. The gun laying would be worse. A good match I think.
For the americans I hope for a M4a3 75mm. with a 50cal on the roof and stabilized gun.
Less gun then the others but great HE capability and great gun laying. speed somewhere between the panzer and the t34.
A gun that can deal with a panzer IV but has trouble with the T34.
I think it would be neat to have the Russians at the top of the Tank food chain. Then the special release Panthers and Tigers would be able to really have an effect.
