Debating on what phone to get. My dad's friend owns a store so he said he'd hook me up with a phone of my choice for pretty cheap.
Debating on:
Voyager
Alias 2
enV Touch
Is the Storm worth it?
Any other suggestions? Kind of want a QWERTY keyboard...
-
I like the LG phones, they all are pretty tough if you beat up your fun and all come with cameras and stuff like that for pretty fair prices. Voyager is nice acouple of my buddies had it and loved them :salute
-
The thing I have heard about the Voyager is probs with the touch screen...I've tried the touch on it and it would be hard to get used to coming from an ipod touch. right now I have the original enV. The enV touch seems nice but people say batt life is bad.
-
I have a Voyager and love it. I find the touch screen a little too sensitive on mine even after calibrating, because it likes to unlock itself and call people.
-
Get a storm. Sweet phone once you get used to it. Or you could always go with a Dare.
-
Only thing I don't like about the Dare is that it's all touch screen and only has 1 screen. I work a lot, and I need a phone that can flip open/closed and protect the screen. With the Voyager I have that, a QWERTY keyboard, and the luxury of a touch screen whenever I wanna use it.
-
I think ym 2 decisions are between the Storm and Voyager anyway. Tough decision...the Voyager seems to be getting a little old...and the enV Touch almost seems like the upgrade. The Storm would be so weird for me coming off an ipod touch considering I'd have to press down and such...and the touch screen QWERTY could mess me up a bit...I've tried my friend's dare and it is pretty easy to text with...but the Dare (or Voyager) doesn't have the layered screen. Gah! Decisions decisions...
-
I vote for the phone that is a phone.

They still make those?

Check the clearance aisle. Cheap, and you can run them over a car and they won't break.

I go to wal mart, get about 10 screen protectors for $5 and cut them into shape of my screen. My dare has been dropped on brick, pavement, kicked and jabbed. There are some minor scratches around it. It is surprisingly durable. The screen has no scratches because of the screen protector. But I would get a screen protector for any touchscreen phone. The thing I love most about the Dare is it's headphone jack and music player. Don't have to buy some stupid converter to play music. It is a good mp3 player/cell phone with other neat features.

The BlackBerry Storm2 is coming out soon. I personally have been VERY impressed with the Storm & I will most likely upgrade to the Storm2.
The storm (Storm2) is the way to go my friend. :salute

env touch, dont get the storm i have it and it sucks
-
It doesn't suck. Do you hate the clickable (pushable) screen???? And why does a kid have a blackberry
The rumors out before the Storm hit the shelves was that it wasn't fast enough compared to the iPhone. They were so wrong. It is supper fast.
-
Grr...I hate when someone says it sucks and another one says its good. Ratt, I can't wait 6 mos to upgrade to the Storm2...
Zoo...why do you say it sucks? do you say that just because you think it does? (thats most of the feedback I've been getting :/ )
Edut: really liking the enV touch...I'm watching a few reviews on it...prob might be able to get it for 25 or 50 bucks instead of 100...

Because thats what its all about these days, whos got the best phone ;)
-
Most people at our school would laugh at a kid with a Blackberry. But, hey, it's ZooZoo.

Exactly. Thank God I was more interested in the females when I was in school.

I myself have a windows mobile phone with keyboard and touch screen. The AT&T tilt is what I have and love it especially the Windows Mobile.
You can find almost any program on the internet that is free.
Well I looked on the Verizon site and see that Verizon now has HTC phones. These I would highly recommend. They come with Windows mobile and in my opinion very good phones. They are the company that made the Tilt. These are basically mini computers and the palm of your hands.
Here is what I found:

There are others that have Windows Mobile but none have the Qwerty keyboard.

I have an Curve 8350i and use Opera Mini as the browser. It is all I need and enjoy it. The Iphones are nice, but I've heard too many complaints from friends that "hate the coverage". I enjoy the Nextel network, as they has more towers in Michigan than any other competitor. I didn't have a problem in California, nor any other state I've been too. I have mp3's on it and use the headphones from time to time.
Sometimes some get so blinded by "bells and whistles" that they don't realize it's "more sh*t to get broken". Buy a phone for function, the last phone I had was a 3 year old i560 that was Mil-Spec. It was flung about while wheeling, run over a few times on the trail inadvertently, dropped from roofs, thrown by my son about 40ft (I was more impressed that a 5 year old could throw it that far) and many other things. But it always worked, although like most Motorola phones from that time, they had battery issues.
Spikes, what works for us, might not work for you. Folks that slam "any phone" need to seek Professional Help, because if you're that "uptight" over what someone else has, you need to wonder what you're doing with your own life. My guess is not much. Just see what fits your needs, it's as simple as that.

touch screens are great ............ if your a girly man.............most men need a phone when we least expect it!
ya Touch screens look cool and chix's dig it........ but hats not what you need!

Yeah I agree...while you guys need the business aspect I don't need intardnet or anything on my phone...unless someone wants to pay for my access :)

get a boulder!............. hard to break one of them!

When I tell people how much my cell phone bill is monthly, they get pissed. :) I don't use mine for business either.

I've always wondered about LG. Twenty years ago, their company name was "Goldstar" and they manufactured steaming buckets of crap.

True. But, I've have a 19" LCD monitor from them for almost 2 years and it hasn't lost a single pixel yet.

Spikes, when asking for opinions about cell phones, you need to preface it with the following.
"Yes, I am asking about the opinion of cell phones. If you have an iPhone, or any phone with some kind of fruit on it, please do not comment. I know everything else is crap compared to your fruit phone and to even think about getting something else is simply stupid, so we can dispense with your invaluable insight into the quality of cell phones. I am going to gamble on remaining ignorant on how no one can live without a fruity phone and would appreciate it if you allowed me to remain in that state. Thank you and move along."
I have your basic phone as well. It's just a phone. It allows me to easily communicate with others, including those with fruity phones. Oh, it also never butt dials anyone. I like that. And for $20, if I lose it or break it, I am not going to have a stroke over it.
I also enjoy the fact I only have to recharge it once every two to three of weeks. So it is also good for the environment.
I think it is difficult to go wrong if you keep it simple.

The one and only reason I have a cellular phone is so my 87 year old father can have one for emergencies.
I have a contract with AT&T for two phones with two separate numbers. That is it...just two phones.
Rollover minutes....standard 400 per month. Between my father and I we use maybe 5 of them.
If my father wasn't his age I would not own a cellular phone.
We seemed to have survived nicely before them.....when my father no longer has the cellular I will not need one.
It will go wherever nice little cell phones go after their usefull lives. :aok

I do too.....
My phone has Office Mobile on it, can act as a modem for my laptop, touchscreen, keyboard, built in GPS, free programs since Windows Mobile....
Damn my phone is a computer and fruity.... :D

Fruity (as in the fruit phone coined by Skuzz) is the way to go in this day and age.
-
Fruity (as in the fruit phone coined by Skuzz) is the way to go in this day and age.
So long as you get one that works and don't use it too much since the battery is designed to exceed its lifespan just after the warranty voids and it costs half as much as a new iPhone for the battery to be replaced.
-
I haven't had a problem with my BlackBerry Storm & I have had it for almost a year.

See what I mean Spikes? Had you prefaced your post, you could have avoided this.

Oh now you're being silly :) :rofl

I thought he was referring to the iPhone as fruity, as it has an Apple on the back of it.

Of course I am. Fruity phones are quite funny. :)

Uhmmm,...where do you jump off the track OOZ? Of course, that is why I called it "fruity phone". Why are you in doubt?
-
hmm hmmm Black Berry is a fruit LOL. I think/thought Skuzz was referring to both the iPhone & BlackBerry.
-
Exactly. :D I was talking about the APPLE iPhone, he was talking about the BlackBERRY Storm, which are both fruit. :lol
-

Yes! Now you are all catching on! It was easier than typing all the names of the phones as they seem to like fruit names.
Although, the Apple one is the only one you could coin "The iFruity". :)
Blackberry, Raspberry, Apple,...they are all the same ilk.
People spend more time and energy rationalizing the use of a "phone", than murderers do in trying to justify what they did.
-
I got myself an iPhone and it is the spiffiest thing I've ever seen, barring the battery cost and the fact that the mic is inoperational. :lol I have to haul it to the other side of the state to get a new one...
-
"The iFruity" :rofl :rofl
I shouldn't have been drinking my Root Beer when I read this... :rofl
-
I bought the Memoir at T-Mobile and love it. I never hear much about verizon around here.
-
This thread is full of laughs now, I love it! :lol
-
I can hear it now.
Inquisitive Person: What kind of cell phone do you have?
Person in nanner-peel shoes: iFruity.
Inquisitive Person: Dude,...I did not ask about your sexual orientation. I was asking about yer phone.
Person in nanner-peel shoes: I told you, iFruity.
Inquisitive Person: Dude,...oh look,...Optimus Prime! <turns and runs off>

How the times have changed. I remember when people took vacations to get away from the phone and work. Now it seems like they do everything they can do to "keep in touch".
I was never a fan of people being able to get a hold of me no matter what, so I don't usually carry my phone around with me. I do have a cell phone, as a matter of fact it's the only phone I have but I don't feel like I have too be a slave to it.
-
Ah, the iFruit. Back in the day, that's the brand that the Fox family used. O, the days of Foxtrot when it was a daily affair rather than Sundays.
-
This thread made me remember some things from the past.
I've got to laugh.....thinking cell phones are that important and how WE can't do without them.
MY first phone number RIverside 7- 3328 Yup phone numbers were given as ours were in the 50s RI7-3328.
Party line....pick up the phone to use it and three neighborhood ladies talking to one another.
First so called conference call....LOLLOLOL called a party line when neighbors shared the same phone number.
Mother saying to me Don't pick up the phone till the 4th ring.....that's us.
My how spoiled we have gotten. And wussified too!
I go to the grocery store and see kids with their Mothers....they're so white they look anemic!
Then I remember.....Kids don't go outdoors anymore to do anything for any length of time.
Tis a shame....no wonder they think the germans bombed Pearl Harbor. :aok
-
Hmm my youngest is now 18. She is a brown belt in Taikwondo, works out at the gym every other day, and has had a phone since she was 7. But I do see the types your talking about floating around (ghosts).
She'll be going to Texas A&M University in the fall. (Meteorology)

I just heard the greatest comment / joke about the new iPhone vs. the BlackBerry on my XM Radio.
The iPhone is for the teen girls that want to show off to their friends and the BlackBerry is for the businessman that wants to get something done.
