Of course I am waiting a bit before seriously considering my next dog...
The Beagle is on the very short list of possible breeds..

my daughter had a beagle mix puppy and because of his bark and natural instinct to want to run and hunt, people in the town house we used to live in griped bout him and we had to get rid of him, he went to a great home though, they guy planned to train him to hunt which was something he wouldnt be able to do with us as we are not hunters.
cute puppy though....they are great with kids too!

How bout 'butters'...

Great dogs but can be a PIA to housebreak.
I've had 3 and 1 beagle/terrier mix.
Fantastic with kids.
They also make great radiators on a cold winter night
Also great vacuum cleaners. Dont even worry about picking up scraps of food that fall on the floor. they are usually gone before you can either react. or get something to clean up the mess with.
I used to say about ours that you could drop a single potato chip on a carpeted floor 3 rooms away, and they will hear it.
Just remember when they are outside "Once the nose goes down. The brain shuts off" LOL

Keep this in mind too with a Beagle. My beloved childhood Beagle "Bo" bolted on me after it got the scent of "something". We lived on a 50 acre farm at the time, so it could have been anything. Long story short I never saw him again, still no clue what happened. He was tagged, but we never heard a peep.

"annihilator" you should name em

From what I have read, you've got to keep them on a short leash or get some intensive training.

Gunner
I named a dog that.... I happen to have been watching a sports show interview of Boomer Esiason. He mentioned his son Gunner and the rest is history.

Lucky for your dog that Esiason wasn't talking about jock itch.
