Title: Not receiving updates?
Post by: TANKhntr on June 22, 2009, 11:46:55 PM
When I log into the game, in my message buffer it says "Not receiving updates switch to TCP".  I have no VOX, can't hear people talk and they can't hear me.  I ran through all the tests I can possibly think of on my computer and it checks out fine, hmm I am lost!  Also when I am in the lobby it shows my name as TANKhntr not as LTARtank, but when in the game is shows LTARtank?

VOX is UDP based, so if you are not getting UDP packets, you will not get any VOX either.

If you are behind a router, the router could be blocking UDP packets.  Describe your Internet connection.  What ISP?  Using a router?  Wireless?  What type of connection to the Internet is it?

Also try running a Ping Plot (www.pingplotter.com) to 206.16.60.39.

Then run a Ping Plot using UDP protocol and see where the packets are being lost.

Lot of that going on with Vista and all the anti-virus programs.

My guess is the anti-virus programs are thinking Vista is a virus and then they try to fix it. :)

the anti-virus programs are thinking Vista is a virus

Well, some of us believe that this is true....  Vista is a virus.
