Title: computer stops working when playing AH
Post by: BarryBD on June 26, 2009, 09:40:03 AM
OK, kind of a weird problem here.

When I start up my PC, everything is normal.  However, when I start playing AH, after about 20 min. my screen becomes black, and nothing happens, no sound, nothing...

Could this mean my PC is dying?

Sounds like heat or power supply issues.  Possibly monitor issues.  If you do not have the INF file for the monitor loaded and Windows is using the default monitor or the plug n play monitor type, it could be running the incorrect refresh rate which causes the monitor to stop working after a bit.

It could end up damaging the monitor if that is the case.

Thanks.  I don't think it's the monitor, because sound dies too.  Could be heat...  as it's really hot over here now...

make sure you clean out your computer box. All the dust and crud that builds up in there helps to over heat your computer. As long as ALL the fans are running and there isn't any obstructions your computer SHOULD be able to keep itself cool enough to run. If on the other hand the fans stop, or its full of crud, you'll get the symptoms your describing.
