Title: Aces High on the PSP
Post by: ForrestS on June 26, 2009, 05:09:41 PM
You guys should make AH for the PSP. I know the PSP can handle it. It would probally be hard to map the controls, but you guys are smart. PSP has internet and a built in mic. Ya'll should call Sony and see what they think, because i would really like to play AH on the go. :pray

HTC you are doing a great job focusing on your core product.  No need to spread resources to a handheld platform.

Grade school is out already for the summer?

And no, the PSP could not handle this game.  The PSP is basically a mobile version of the PS2 and it takes more to develop a game for a sub-par platform than just calling up Sony and making it happen.

Gotta love kids and their silly ideas.  At least he didn't ask for the B-29.

Because the don't need to.

Perhaps if they were desperate things would be different.

Because 90% of the current players would loathe the changes in culture and gameplay it would bring about, and 90% of the PSP players who tried AH2 would hate it because it isn't the arcade-style shoot'emup they're used to. it would mean the death of AH2 within two years, max.

I'm not saying everyone on PSP is lame - it's just a very different player base and culture. A game like AH2 has an inherently limited but highly devoted player base, and companies like Sony and Microsoft want nothing to do with that sort of thing for their consoles, which is why they don't offer anything remotely similar. The sort of revenue AH sees is a drop in the ocean for them.

I'm just glad and grateful that HTC exists and provides us with so much fun. The worst thing that could happen would be for one of the megacorps to notice them and this community - they'd inevitably either buy HTC out or crush it, then promptly take the game off the market. That's what they do. They don't want niche markets to exist, they want everyone spending every entertainment dollar on their blockbusters. And love of the genre or the history plays no part whatsoever in their cold financial calculations. We saw this in the board wargame community; Hasbro bought out Avalon Hill (the preeminent wargame publisher for decades) only to take every one of their wargames off the market.  :(

Theres homebrew for the PSP. Maybe i can get them to put AH on the PSP. that would keep sony from crushing HTC, and it wouldent b full of ppl expecting it to be a arcade game.

We have PSP on some of the airfields already.  Kinda slippery on rainy days but helps with the mud.

Now the question is, does anyone know what I'm referring to? :)

Well, I'll take a stab at it but I didn't just get my diploma so forgive me if I'm wrong.  You're talking about the metal plates used for runways.

No, the PSP cannot handle it.  The verison of Birds of Prey that is being released for the PSP is very different from the ones being released for the consoles because the PSP cannot handle it.

You need to find a bucket of prop wash and start cleaning my PSP, after that go get the keys to area J, and during commo ring down you had better be Johnny on the spot with the squelch grease. The CO keeps the only box of squelch grease tubes in his office, so you will have to go there to find them. Don't forget that tomorrow we are doing APOAE samples and we will need you to collect the exhaust samples with 55 gal. trash bags. If you need help finding something there is a box of grid squares in the motor chiefs office, just walk in and get them, he does'nt mind. OH, and hit ALT F4 for unlimited ammo.  :salute

There are enlisted aircrew in the USAF - load masters, boom operators, gunners, etc.

One of my flight instructors was a former enlisted guy who went to college on the Air Force, got his commission and went through flight training.  And a roommate in pilot training was a former SP.

Forest, it is a long road, but not impossible.

Still, AH on the PSP is not a good idea.

I agree - it makes sense.  Sure, it almost certainly won't be as impressive as the full game, but there's no reason why they can't it work.  Even X-PLANE is on iPhone now.

And way to go on being completely arrogant jerks everyone (with a few exceptions <S>).

actually, AH for the X-box & what-ever-else would enhance the revenue streams for HTC; thus with more revenue they can invest more into the game's development.  Which is what we want right?  And I do not think HiTech (& crew) are such sell-outs as to lose control &/or accede to player pressure (talkin about THOSE players) to make it into the typical x-box FPS.  would it not be nice to have an update or new plane every month?  that COULD be possible with making AH available on other platforms.  If it does make it there, then there is always .squelch...

or maybe all the x-boxers could be on a new county...."Pawns"  :rofl

We as squeakers in "our day" were much different from the 1/2 brained twits we call squeakers today..
Back then, our parents were allowed to "influence" our decisions and thinking in accordance with being
a productive person..  Say or think something really dumb, and they let you know it was dumb with a good
smack up-side the head or something and a quick explanation why your an idiot..  That made you think twice..

Now-a-days, kids are encouraged to think stupidly..  It's a ploy by the powers that be to keep people stupid
and ensure world domination by the political and financial elite...... :noid :noid :noid :noid :noid :noid :noid
