Way cool Captfish!

that's really cool, especially when you put the chopstick inside and he moves a tentacle out to reach for the food, its like he knows the chopsticks bring him food :lol.
him changing colour so quickly was really impressive too, was that because different light inside the tank at that moment? if you put your hand against the glass deos he get inquisitive about it? and deos he know when its feeding time? like fish can do?
that is a really intresting pet, if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost? are they easy to keep?

Very cool to watch. He seemed to be playing with his own reflection, I wonder how clear it was from his angle, or if he could see it at all. In the wild finding something clean and mirrored enough to show an animal it's own reflection would be a rare event. I wonder if he thinks it is another octopus looking back at him.

..and tastes great with a nice white wine. :aok
Sweet video.

Really interesting and cool... hope he survives a while and doesn't eat all your fish :aok

No thats just what he does, he is usually changes his color depending on what is around him. I think he was flashing white becaue he was next to a white anemone. He loves it when you touch the glass or even put your hand in the tank. he is super curious about everything. He definate knows when feeding time is around 9 am every mornig he comes out and stares at me til i feed him. He just presses himself up against the glass and follows my every movement.

I'm not sure how much they cost I actually caught mine in the wild, I'm a commercial Fisherman. They are actually quite tricky to car for. I had to modify my tank so it seals off completely oother wise they are know for climbing out and dying, octo-jerky. Also they have to be hand fed everyday. Once he get alittle older I am going to have to start giving him things to play with otherwise they will get bored. when they get bored they will mess with teh rest of your tank, and eventually die.

From inside the tank you can see out pretty perfectly. I have messed around with it wondering the same thing. He likes to show off for people, he will lokk out the tank and spread himself on the glass and strobe for people. You give me and idea I think I'll try sticking a small mirror so he can see it, see what happens.

lol. You may then own world first vain ocotpus. :D

Had one many years ago that I caught in the Bahamas. Awesome pet, but ultimately got very bored with the tank (60 gallons), and thus I let him go.

I keep hearing about the boredom, you might have to really mess with his tank every few days, make puzzles for him, Try the links I put in your other post like the food in a box with a door of some sort for him to open. Use that for like a week every day, then reconfigure it.
Try putting plaid colored panels somewhere for him to blend into, feed him little treats only when he is hiding on the panel... give him live bait once and a while he can hunt, maybe once a week or twice.
he seems incredibly intelligent just from these few weeks you have had him, and from what I have read and seen they seem to be almost the most intelligent creatures on the earth. I bet you can teach him games, almost like tricks and the variants might be enough to keep him entertained. Try different foods to find his favorite, then do things like wiggle 1 finger in an area of the tank. If he comes to investigate feed him a treat of his favorite. Then vary the food, 1 finger wiggling equals the treat, 2 wiggling equals something he isn't as interested, or maybe nothing at all.
Sorry for the long post, if I had the time and ability I'd have a salt water tank, and something like him would be the centerpiece. I'm just thinking of possibilities :)
<EDIT> BTW he seems to be learning the stick isn't food and goes YOINK and grabs his prize... is once a day enough food? I am thinking about natural predation, and like cats natural hunters are almost always on the lookout for food... I really think you need to let him hunt a bit, be what he really is and feel the satisfaction of getting his quarry.

Amazing pet, would be a fun one to have. Seems like a smart cookie, and could bring you quite a bit of fun. ;)
Since you're so into it... maybe you'd be into this as well. :D

Capt,
I love the way it changes colours and mimics the coral and rocks!
you could try some pvc pipe, just dry fit it and elbows and "T"s to make it a maze.
be real cool if you could get some clear piping!
Next you need to get a cuttle fish, those guys really flash colours at you!!
