Title: Nate: thanks for reworking the La-5FN
Post by: leonid on January 16, 2001, 12:20:00 PM
This is still my favorite ride, so it's good to hear that the Lavochkin is getting a cockpit reworking.  Thanks!

Nate, GOOD. SO does that mean you'll work on the 190's afterwards?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Great news!
Nate you are the best!!
And as a reward, the second I fly the new cockpit I will send you a bottle of Canadian Classic 12YO as a reward  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

1 request of the new cockpit:

An anomoly of all Lachovin (and most soviet) fighters is that they were never equipped with an artificial horizon. Could we see it removed in the new cockpit to make room for the temp in the mail viewing area?

We're still keeping the emergency beercan behind the pilot, right?

Hmmmmm...reworking The La-5FN cockpit. Does that mean you will rework it a little further out from the cockpit and call it an La-7 for the 'Perk Crowd'?   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Why would he do that Sundog? The La-7 has the same setup as the La5-FN. When they do it all they have to do is re-work the way the cowlings go over the engine and add the 3rd cannon. Then paint it like the Yak's camo and voila! an La-7. No other changes externally from lagg-3 to La-7 except the engine&cowling appearence.

And by god- it better not be a perk plane- she's the equivilant to a P-51 down low and worse up high- Yak-9U was probably the closest to a perk plane for the Soviets in WWII, ie: the 435mph version not the 415 one. Best hope for a perk plane is the Il-10 or the Yak-3U. or...  >snicker< an La-7R...  one shot to glory kind of deal there..

Agreed Sorrow, the La7 should definitely NOT be a perk plane.

Oh and while your at it Nate, go ahead and put together a red tail on the standard Yak-9U skin so that Pyro can finally do the Yak-9UT that we've been asking for  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Great to hear about the cockpit reworking.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Why do people have this silly idea that the la7 is some kind of uber-ride?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/confused.gif) Besides 1 extra cannon and a slight reduction in weight, there aren't any differences.  It's like saying the 109g6 is uber compared to the 109g2.

109G6 is heavier, slower ,worse turner and worse climber than 109G2. Only advantage it has over G2 is its canopy and the heavy MGs.

I dont see anything uber in the 109G6 we have here compared with the G2  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

HiTech stated earlier this morning in the MA that there will be different ranges of perks, for instance, the D9 will probably not be in the 1000's range nor the 500 point range, but probably around 200(guess).

I bet the La7 will too.

That is the point RAM- La5=G6 La7=G2, role reversion but same idea. Plane is just lighter and slightly more firepower.

Yeah, I know the differences between the La-5fn and the La-7 are minimal. I was just stating that in regards to the list Pyro posted awhile back asking what three planes from the list he posted would we like to see as perk planes. Since he had the La-7 listed as Perk Plane on it. I was also hoping for Khozdub's winter paint scheme  on it.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

IIRC Sun, wasn't that list for varients not perk planes per se?

I highly doubt the La-7 will be perked.  When Pyro placed that thread about what planes we'd like to see, he also stated that some would be perked, but not all.  And I hope the La-7 has Dolgushin's paint scheme   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Oh, cool! Thanks Leonid! I thought those were all perks.  I like that paint schemme as well. I just figure as good as ND and SF are, lets get a really cool scheme (As opposed to a standard camo scheme   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )
