Marvelous :)

Saw soemthing like this on the history cannel. Supposedly they were churches with Astronomy look outs.

The Shakers are the ones who built most of these. There's actually quite a few of them up here in the New England area. The round shape made them very efficient when it came to feeding animals and other barn-related activities. The Shakers were pretty clever when it came to stuff like that.

I remember reading somewhere that round barns were originally constructed to "keep the devil out" as he apparently likes to hide in corners. Round barn = no corners to hide in! Lemme see if I can google that so I don't feel like a chud repeating something I read(I think...) years and years ago.....
Well, maybe I'm just a chud.
Wikipedia turned up nothing on the matter.....anyone else ever heard of that before? Or did I just manage to fabricate something in my mind?

Ohio round barn list. Although the author uses the term "barn" very liberally.

Ok.....this is a polish joke in hiding right? In case you can not remember back to 8th grade i'll refresh your memory.
How do you confuse a polish guy? Put him in a round room and tell him to sit in the corner. :lol
Seriously though there is a round barn about 5 to 10 miles south of the Chicago land speedway in Joliet Illinois, it's a riding stable i think for rich kids out of chicago. I'll try to do some research on it, i pass it all the time.

You can find a good number in Eastern Wisconsin.

At one time Wayne county Iowa had 6 of these. This is the only one still standing today (http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk121/TheAmish/xl.jpg)
