This is indeed a guestbook, though I am not convinced if it's from a ordinary hotel.
The second picture shows a poem someone wrote to thank for a few happy hours he had spent at this place:
Transcription:
The following translation is a rather rough one. My limited command of the English language does't really allow me to translate the lighthearted spirit and mood it it is written in:
A Sunday afternoon in Murnau, alone
Could there be any thing more bleak?
I even thought about sleeping, or reading or such
When I got invited to this Chateau
And here in this delightful, convival house
We five were now really romping around
First we would take a bath in the sun
Then a a snowball fight was begun
We were brawling and rolling and romping in the snow
When the sisters fell silent all at once
And gave each other a knowing glance
But immediately they were acting innocently again
EDIT
I found the place were this book is from:
Schloss Neu-Egling near Murnau.
This "Chateau" was build just before WWI by the Family von Poschinger, very old Bavarian noble house. It's still owned by the family and as far as I can see right now, had never been a hotel or any similar kind of "public" place.

The porschinger`s name is all over it,many different names,There is atleast 100 signatures in it.A few are von Stauffenbergs family.I was able to make out a few other names. My under standing was this was from a castle there. The story is : a G.I. was guarding the castle and he had 6 duffle bags of souveniers, but was only allowed to keep 1 bag. This was in it.Years later he sold his collection to a ww2 collector I know, everything but this book.Years alter he died and his wife called and said she was willing to sell it,so he bought it.That was about 30 years ago, well times are tough and now my friend needs money,so he sold his collection of stuff for $80,000 but kept the book.Well it`s been a few more years and his bills are piling up so he sold it to me.He never spent anytime researching it,he just knew it was worth keeping.Ill post another pic of a page or 2 shortly.

If the same family still owns that house, I bet they might be interested in acquiring the book back? It is about their family history, right?

Thanks Lusche :salute

Was me a pleasure. :salute
You want to contact the owners of Schloss Neu-Egling? Of you need some help, PM me, I think I could easily arrange this.
-
If I owned that place, and you offered to give me back that piece of my family's history, I know I'd offer you a room for a week or two. You might have an opportunity here to do something very kind and have an affordable vacation for your family in return.
-
Awesome find and great post. Some of it looks to be in French as well?
Easily one of the coolest things I've seen online. What an amazing piece of visual history.
-
Absolutely amazing. Nice piece of history there.

I have to agree. It seems a crime to be out of the family's hands. That book is an incredible work. It belongs with the building it speaks of in such happy times.
-
Thanks again Lusche. I have no idea what I`m going to do with this,I have no intention of selling it.I`m not looking to contact those folks just yet.I`m not exactly wealthy and could never just fly over there, heck I`ve never even flown in a plane befor.I plan on eventually getting it appraised and then going from there.Although I have no idea on who to get to do so.There`s a good amount of original art work and such that I would imagine some of it must be from some famous artist, writers,or even musician. As of now it just sits in a suit case locked away in my closet. If any one would like I can post some more pages, the book probably has 50 or more.

I don't want to be rude or accusing anyone of anything, but I am quite confused about the original "acquisition" of this book by the G.I.
"Souvenirs"? From a civilian house he was guarding? And he was allowed to keep one bag?
Do I fully misunderstand this case or could it be seen as discussing of stolen property which has been sold over a few times? Or is it just legitimate spoils of war.. if such a thing exist? I truly don't know myself. It just confuses me. How do you, sirvlad, see it?
Maybe I am just imagining in my head what or how much that book would mean to that family.. or maybe it wouldn't. Would they be happy knowing about the book... or angry? Are they nice people? Would they "deserve" it back? Would they "deserve" to be without it? So many thoughts... :uhoh I'm kinda happy it is in your hands and not in mine :)
Interesting piece of history anyways.

G.I.`s brought back all sorts of things, yes I see your point of course,I was under the impression that it was a castle he was guarding, that was blown apart.I`ve tried to look up some facts about it but haven`t had much luck yet.I would like to contact those people sometime, just not yet. It`s been over 70 years whats a few more. What I want is to know about some of the people in it,who they were and so on.My dream would be to take it to them once,it`s been researched some.I`m not the type of person to have the funds to just fly away.I couldn`t never even pay the airfare,or take enough time off work to enjoy myself.I was thinking of maybe taking it new york and having it looked at,but then again I can`t even affort to do that at this time.I haven`t been able to find anything on the net about the castle, name of the town, the people or anything.Besides Porschinger the name Camphausen is all thru the years to.As far as I can tell it doesn`t say where it`s from just the area I assume, then again I can`t read german. As a side note I collect ww2 german items, appreciate the culture and way of life.I am of german descent.

Here are some bits and pieces I found:

Map location:

Looks like the road to the castle is named "Poshinger Allee" :)
That family seems to be associated in (art) glass business and I guess the "industrial area" right by the castle is a factory of theirs. (Check the satelite photo = Luftbild)

There are several different branches of the family. The glass manufacturers are "Poschinger von Frauenau", the ones in Neu-Egling are called "von Poschinger-Camphausen"

cc... my German skills is quite poor :)

wow Lusche thanks again. I`m not sure what i`m going to do,think I`ll just put the book away for now.Maybe once I can save up some money, then I`ll go about contacting someone. The info you have given me really helps me out alot,I had no idea who the people were.Looks like it will be pretty easy to do once I`m ready.Do you live in that area or something?I`m just asking since you said it be easy for you to contact them.Once again,Thank you very much.

Blauk the links you posted are an incredible help to me.Thank you. It will probably be a few months befor I do anything next, but I will keep you guys posted as to what is going on.For now I`ll just keep it locked away in my closet, like it`s been for years.
