Title: stick questions
Post by: Captfish on June 29, 2009, 03:34:45 PM
I have an x-52, I have had it for over three years now and its starting to have the standard problems, hats switch is wearing out and the stick has become sloppy from abuse. The throttle portion of it works fine no problems there. I also want to get a set of pedals. I cant afford the full $450 for a CH products set-up. so I was cjecking out my options. Any suggestions?

Can I use my x-52 throttle with a ch stick and saitek pedals?

Is thrustmaster HOTAS a good product?

I've heard of AHII members selling their CH gear.  Maybe someone will give you an offer.

If you’re a lefty, you can probably get a discounted one from an AHer (I forget his name) that modifies CH HOTAS equipment.

CH is a good investment.  It is expensive when you compare them to the foreign made sticks you can buy at the local tech stores… that and the current economy.

My suggestion would be to order one-by-one.  I didn’t buy the whole set up right off the bat.

I believe the lefty guy is "HomeBoy"

IMHO, this is the best use of a CH Throttle Quad:

My friend Ken King builds these.  Here is his ad:  http://snomhf.exofire.net/FrankenPotato.html

There are obviously other ideas, as Chalenge mentions, but I think outfitting your PT with these trim axes and having the switches across the front really enhances the usefulness of the device.  One of these days, I'll probably move my TQ into my PT and have my own version of the Franken-Potato.

Hey Captfish,

Heard you looking for a new stick.

I have a Hotas Cougar, but it will cost you to make it perfect for AH.

:aok I think I'm going to look for a Cougar. I saw one the other day and I like how stiff it is much more realistic.n CH products I know are great, but they feel plasticky.

Hmmm... Isn't it funny how the stick looks just like a CH Product F-16 Fighterstick?

All the Best...

That's is because they are both modeled after the real f-16 stick.

Cappy, have you seen this site?

http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/index.php

Yes, the CH & Cougar are replicas of the F-16 Falcon.  The one thing I do like about the Cougar Stick is that the handle is interchangeable with F-15 and F-18 handles.

Good get Cappy!

<edit>  :o I discussed that I liked the CH stick because it doesn't have springs.  I did some more research and saw pix of the CH fighter stick guts and the CH & Cougar have similar spring setups in the base of the stick itself.  They just don't have the MEGA spring life the Saitek & Logicrap :aok

The Hotas Cougar cost about $190 ..... try Buy.com website

Another $600 to Mod with Hall Senors for the Joystick and Throggle.

If you decide to go with the cougar, I can send you my stick profile.

I believe you can still use the saitek pedals and throttle with the ch equipment. I'm not so sure about the Cougar. I've heard great things and not so great things. Maybe Wingnutt can fill you in.
