I finally found something that the suicide land grabbers can get behind! :aok

It's perfect, can go in midwar, was used in squadron service and actually worked
about 1/3 of the time! No more Lightning/Typhoon cruise missiles :rofl

Germans had something similar but it was a remotely guided missile with a T.V. camera.. It was launched from a Ju-88 iirc and was used to intercept and destroy
bombers.. I'm not sure that it was operational before the end of the war.. I'm too lazy to look this up but I'm thinking it was the Rurstal or something like that..
Was years ago on Discovery (before Discovery Wings or Military Channel (wings of the luftwaffe) that I saw this...

i watch wings of the luftwaffe all the time and i saw that episode yesterday......although i thought it was more of a remote controlled V-1 Buzzbomb. or something like that

Isn't that called an X-4, or something? Could be mistaken, but somewhere remember seeing X-4 attached with that pic.

Oh come on, what could be more fun that chasing clouds of slow drones
laden with 2,000 pounds of explosive? :D
-
The Germans were also toying with slinging JU-88s that had their cockpits replaced entirely with explosives to the underside of FW-190s to be chucked at large targets.

Well, when you put it that way... you make a good point. :devil

They did more than toy with them, they were used operationally. Do a search for Ju88 Mistel aircraft.
-
Yeah, I couldn't remember the name and hence couldn't look it up, so I didn't know if they were operational or not. :D

Go batty! 1942 style

This would be great. With this technology, the pilot could now simply sit behind a computer screen and use a joystick to guide the virtual plane anywhere he wanted it to go. Amazing!
.... hey, wait a minute.....
:D

Woah...
Baby steps...baby steps...

Well if we're going to have a drone, I'd think a war weary B17 or B24 filled with Torpex would be the way to go. The suicide 4 engine bomber guys would have an excuse then :)

We could have rides for 2 Kennedy's

Wonder what those pilots thought about their "passenger" before
they launched it? :)

Lets hope I can get this off the ground without it exploding.
