Probably millions of these built each day!

What plane has the most built?
Care to be more specific? Combat non combat? Fighter bomber?
I think the most prolific fighter is the Yak series, 36,000 or so, the Il-2 is probably one of the most prolific bombers, and I think the most produced aircraft of the war is the Polikarpov U-2.
-
I'd guess since you didn't specify military the Cessna 172
-
oops sorry......... WW2 and any role play plane

More IL2's were produced in WWII than any other aircraft. I know this because I saw it on the history channel :lol

The paper airplane still wins in that time period. :P

Nope, I think for that time period the oragami sheep beat out the paper airplane due to all those lonely Japanese soldiers stuck on remote Pacific islands.
nm... it's not a plane... sry.

109
More IL-2s were built, 36,163 in total. 109s didn't quite reach 35,000.
If we consider civilian aircraft, the Cessna 172 leads with 43,207 manufactured (as of 2007). Then comes the Polikarpov Po-2, with something in excess of 40,000. Then, we have the IL-2.

WW or I didn't cheat, I doubt other's did as well. Because they would have responded with the IL-2.
More trivia
The Hellcat had the most Wing Area of any major single engined fighter in WWII.

I am 100% positive WW knew that off the top of his head.
I am also 100% WW has forgotten this past week more than you will prob. ever learn about WW2.

Ummm... B-29! :aok

I knew the number, I read something once, I remember it. It's called a "photographic memory". After 7 years on this BBS, I'm pretty sure WW, Corky, Greebo and a few others are plagued by this phenomenon.

Did the Luftwaffe really crash half their 109s manufactured during training?

That's a surprise, I would have guessed the Spitfire.

I belive the number was larger than that when talking about accidents on takeoff and landing. Can't remember where I heard that and I could be wrong.
From everything that i've read and heard, the 109 was a tricky plane to fly.

Knew I should have googled!

I did know that 35000 ME-109s were produced off the top of my head. I been reading about WWII German air craft since the early 1960s. The 109 has got to be near the top of the list for most produced true fighter planes of WWII plus Spain built and flew A 109 variation until the mid 60s.

Brewster B-239 ... at least 44 built :)
