For my Il-2.
If its not useless in the MA, I will fly it almost as exclusively fly the P-38. The Yak-9T is my main tank busting ride, and I hope the Il-2 is even more than twice as effective as the Yak. Since we already have a russian 37mm cannon, I hope thats what we will get with the Il2, only with LOTS more ammo (can someone tell me how much ammo the 2x37mm version of the IL2 carried?).
I hope to see some screenshots soon Pyro.
Lots of love and xoxoxoxoxo to you and HiTard (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
(no love to BLUE HiTech, he doesnt pay me any attention)

the il2 carrier 2x37 cannon 32rounds each or 2x23 mm cannon 150 rounds each
for busting the pz IV from the top the 23mm yva would work just dandy
-
32 per gun doesnt seem enough to me
well lets hope it is with the new vehicle damage model
-
The first version we're doing has the 23mm cannons.

Good then I cross my fingers and hope they are twice as effective as the hispanos are.

VYa 23mm ammo weighted more than twice of the ammo of 20mm ShVAK and it could penetrate 25mm armor from 400meters with muzzle velocity of 900ms.

Depending which type Il-2 we will have it can carry 400 or 750kg bomb-load added with four rockets:
RBS82mm, warhead 0,6kg and range 5000m
or
RBS132mm, warhead 2,25kg, range 5000m rockets.

(Il-2's)Gunner's position was not specially armored, and despite good protection from front fire by pilot's cockpit, gunner's combat life was in average 7 times shorter than pilot's or plane's ones....
Uh oh... Guess it wasn't the safest place to spend time in wartime.

Ok, here's a bet:
1 case of beer says that it'll outperform the 190F8, a jagdbomber.
An attack plane outperforming a jagdbomber flight wise, that is.
Any takers? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Santa check out their wingloads. I was surprised too (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Whether or not the tail gunner in an Il-2 is armored or not depends on the version of Il-2. The earlier Il-2s did not have tail guns and the VVS units would cut a hole in the rear fuselage, jerry rig a machine gun and stick a gunner there.
Mid-war Il-2s had the gunner position designed in, and that was an armored position.

Taken from Russian site, http://www.aviation.ru/Il (http://www.aviation.ru/Il) :
Latest modifications (Il-2type3 and later) had slightly reshaped wing to compensate center of gravity shift, caused by added gunner and machinegun. Gunner's position was not specially armored, and despite good protection from front fire by pilot's cocpite, gunner's life was usualy much shorter than pilot's or plane's ones...
Edit:
There's also nice video clip, Il-2's on the fly
