I think the next update after this big one should be all about the troops :aok
I want troops that can actually run, or at least look like real soldiers. I would also like the C47 updated, since the thing doesn't even have a flight stick. And lets not forget the M3, the LVT2, and maybe even the jeep (pimped out jeeps!).
Also, the JU-52 would satisfy my German needs when delivering troops (WTG with the SDK-251 BTW :) )

You mean you don't like the skiing cardboard lemmings that take over bases?
This would be cool if each of them had his own, slightly randomized path finding algorithm so they would not run in a line but scatter a bit. Oh yes, and they'd shoot bailed out pilots with their rifles too.

Troops ie infantry some thoughts
Should interact with the terrian in a better way............ (ie stay on the ground)
be neat if they ran a speudo random pattern.
went into crouch when opposing troops are in range and shoot at them (m3 for x rnds)
went into crouch when opposing town buildings are in range and shoot at them (m3 for x rnds)
went belly down when one was killed (for x>y secs then up and on)
retired to Barracks if left to defend unopposed more than x minutes
number of troops deployed from a field would be limited to y (20?) per undestroyed barrack object.

and give them actual airborne skins....unless of coarse there the army air corps special forces :aok

I'd like them to be less uber - a 5" round from a SB or a 250lb bomb or a 5" rocket should kill all 10 troops easily, not just the 1 or 2 nearest to it. they seem to be far too splash-proof.

I disagree. The game isn't really about what the troops look like. I do think the C-47 and M3 should be upgraded though, along with adding the tank-destroyer variant of the M3

:aok My two cents... how about giving the "troops" a uniform other than the "pilot" garb and do away with the "retard" stance of the right arm extended with a pistol. Maybe make it so the "troops" arm/s were in the down position by default and if an opposing enemy troop was within range then they pointed the pistol. Or even when you bailed the pistol could be raised into position by the person controlling the downed/bailed pilot with a push of a button. Just a thought. :salute

British paras to represent the lads dropped from the sky; US Marines to represent the swimmers from the LVT's; and Soviet infantry to represent those poor saps being hauled into battle via a M3 or jeep, and German panzergrenediers from the Sdkfz 251.
Easy stuff for master coders. :aok

I'd like to have chrome polished "spinners" on my jeep please. Oh, and a stiff chain steering wheel. Oh, and a hydraulic actuated lift kit. Oh, a stack of "pine" felony forest deodorizers hanging from the rearview mirror.

If you modell them that way, you'll only need to drop 1 instead of 10 :aok

If anything I want a C-47 update. I like flying it with internal views, but it looks terrible compared to the other planes we have.

Then, what would they look like if they were dropped from a DC-3 (C-47) as other countries also used the DC-3 to transport...well, anything!

I like all of these ideas except for "went belly down when one was killed (for x>y secs then up and on)". Just not a good idea....

Indeed, the troops should be actual players. This is too easy, like dumping supplies. Might as well be dropping off Kangaroos or Energizer Bunnies (EBs). Going to vote for the EB's if given a choice though.

That would be horrible... Drop one and the map resets... The Chuck Norris troop better have a hefty perk price.

Hi-tech could remodel the troops on the ground running in a straight line to maybe a conga line that allows other M-3's and goons to offload more troops and they join the conga line. Plus add a little sound with some Carribean music and some female troops in grass skirts dancing hula style while the maproom gets captured.

I think the psuedo random patter by the troops is an great idea. Just a slight L and R movement would be awesome!
