Recently I was reading about Foo Fighters which are un-explained UFOs witnessed during the second world war. As I was reading, I found that several explanations were tossed around, and I'd like to hear you theories. I personally think they are aliens :noid

I think they are a great band. :D

Imagine you're a teenage in the tail end of a B-17, and a Me-262 went past, or a 163, or any number of the late german experiments. You have no idea what a jet engine is...
-
Hell there was the account of the pilot chasing an object(UFO), going to high and passing out due to lack of oxygen and crashing. The official report was that he was chasing the sun.

It just doesn't make sense to me that an Alien civilization obviously more advanced than us, would come lightyears to our planet, put lights on their craft, abduct people, make crop circles, etc, etc, and try to avoid us and not contact us. I believe in life on other planets, I just don't believe they are coming here. From what I understand of space and physics (and I don't pretend to be an expert or scientist) it just takes too darn long to get here.

Yes, but there was never a report of a foo fighter attacking any planes. One account from spotters in the Tasman Coast in Australia claims that he witnesses a giant glowing abject, 150 feet long, and 50 feet in diamter with a dome on top. I don't recall hearing of any 262s or 163s that looked like this...especially in 1942.

Which kinda highlights the problem: not only were they all so unusual that experienced pilots couldnt recognise them, they were all different from each other, so the possibility of a single catch all explanation decreaces.
Re: the sighting you mention , It was also apparently submersible, and no jerry jet can do that!

I see foo fighters all the time in the MA. They appear as black dots travelling at an extremely high rate of speed. I wouldn't even complain about it. I think it adds to the realism.

St. Elmo's Fire, ball lighting or Aviator's Vertigo. The 3 most likely explanations for the rash of Foo Fighter reports in late '44, early '45.

I once saw ball lightning at a local golf course. Simply amazing. I've seen it many times offshore and it was not as amazing as on the course.

Just traffic in the distance? Youtube gives mostly ufo junk for Hessdalen, but there's some interesting footage from that one. You can see it's not just atmospheric distortion of a backyard light or car's headlights. It's clearly defined and moves around like ball lightning, or some kind of plasma following field lines.
