I have looked everywhere for the latest x-52 drivers and profile software. I see references to them on the official Saitek forums.
I can't get to any Saitek sites, besides their forum, and it has been that way for the last week. There are other links, but they all seem to refer to installing some third party driver update software. Which I am not willing to do, because it isn't affiliated with Saitek in any way.
If you can find a link that actually works it would be very appreciated!

It seems the Saitek website isn't operating right now. Give it a few days and you should be able to find them here:
www.saitek.com

yeah been that way for the last week for me. Maybe my timing is bad and I check it when it is down and it has been up since.

I was reinstalling windows today and couldn't find my Saitek CD. Went to their site & started to download the software at 20 k/s. Transfer stopped twoce after about 30 mins each time. After that, I couldn't even get to their homepage anymore.

Anyone know of an alternate site that doesn't require third party applications be installed to get drivers?
-
i downloaded 2 weeks ago must be a temporary thing ;)
-
It appears they just released new drivers and new software a few days ago.. maybe there were so many downloads it crashed the system.. hrmm..
The support forums still work www.saitekforum.com (http://www.saitekforum.com)

my X-45 i can just plug in and windows finds it andi can map all the bottons in game
-
X-52 is same way...plug in and go. Support software tho....
I still have the year old new install disc tho if its a real issue for someone.
Should be able to email it.
-
Yeah, unfortunately you can't get the additional "modes" to work though. It recognizes all of the modes as being the same buttons, and I would like to remap the the info and the mouse buttons.
It works fine but with only about a third of the programming buttons that should be available.
-
You want the software? I have the install disc.
Edit:Its larger than I though....200 MB total. Dont know how I could send it.
-
Thank you I really appreciate the offer.
I have the install disc as well. Unfortunately, the profiler that comes on the disc has issues under Vista(it crashes for me as soon as I select a different mode to program). The latest version is supposed to fix many of these issues and give a new interface to do the programming. It came out in the last few weeks.
It is just really odd that the Saitek site has been down for so long lately.
If someone grabbed the latest package in the last few weeks that would be great, or if they could point me to an alternate location where the files are posted that would be even better. The only place that claims to have the drivers wants you to install their driver management package to get them. I just don't trust that at all.

Got ya...
I never messed around with modes so never noticed.
Agreed on the last bit!

Have you tried this site:
ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/
I have been able to download any and all Saitek software from here in the past.
The most recent Saitek X52 software that I have found is:
SST software: SST_Software_32_6_6_6_9.exe.
Drivers: SST_Software_32_6_6_6_9.exe.

Thanks Neil,
Apparently, they finally go their site going again later this morning. I had tried the ftp site before, and that was down as well. I grabbed everything today at work (was afraid the site might crash again)., threw it on a USB drive and will take it home with me tonight.

that is is incorrect - you can program all three modes on an X52 inside AH.
You have to program the 3way mode switch to switch to the 3 different modes as well when you are programming the different buttons/modes or else the app will not know when you switch modes with the rotor.
I think the only thing that doesn't work inside AH is the mouse dongle on the throttle but I don't use that anyways.
Running the SST software is a waste of resources for AH imo.
-
He meant switching between X52 profile modes, not AH flight-modes.
-
Correct. I was not speaking about the AH flight modes. The rotary that shifts modes, on the stick itself, was not registering as a button in AH so I couldn't do anything with that rotary. Maybe I had something setup wrong.
I tried the new programming software and it seems much improved over the package that shipped with the stick.
- First thing I noticed stable in Vista so far. Matybe the old package did all of the things I can do now, but it would crash for me the moment I tried to do anything.
- I can finally program everything like the clutch "i" button, programmed the mouse wheel on the stick for up and down trim and pressing the wheel toggles combat trim.
- Graphical interface for programming that is easy to understand.
- The ability to change the brightness of the stick LED's and MFD's
- Finally displaying the correct time.
Basically the stick is finally doing all the stuff that Saitek says it should do.
I have not received any performance hit at all by using the profiler. Obviously your mileage may vary.
I did a quick search, but could not verify. Does the profile get loaded into the stick? Or is it like the sticks of old that run a little app in your systray that is constantly translating the profile for you. It is acting like it is in the stick, because the MFD indicates the profile name and the key mappings, but this could be a software trick. Sorry at work and this thought just crossed my mind, I guess I could check it myself when I get home.
-
I'm fairly certain that if you run the profiler, it runs an app in the systray.

Still Incorrect... there is NO WAY to program the different X52 modes without the SST software.
You CAN program the switch (which will report as button presses) to switch between AH modes, but you can't physically change the joystick modes.
Theoretically using the SST software *AND* playing Aces High, you could program 18 Completely different button configurations!!!
3 X52 Modes TIMES 3 AH Modes = 9 Modes
9 Modes TIMES two using the Joystick's Shift-State = 18 'Modes'
Keep in mind I DO use the SST software, but I do NOT use the different X52 nor the AH Modes, as just about everything I can possibly think of programming in AH fits in a single mode (Using Shift-states).

Yeah I think everyone understands that. They were discussing using the rotary buttons to change AH modes as a work around I believe. Unfortunately, I could move the mode rotary and the i\clutch button and they would not register as a button press in AH. Made it impossible to program them for anything, all of the other buttons programmed as expected.
Why that happened? could not tell you. I installed the drivers that came with the stick and no joy. Installed the latest and greatest package from Saitek...everything has worked great so far.

Good suggestion, but like I said before the mode roatary simply was not registering as a button press.
Now that everything is programmable, I think one mode may be enough. I gained basically 5 more buttons on the throttle by getting the i\clutch button, mouse wheel up\down, mouse wheel press and the left click button programmed to what I wanted. I may do a second profile mode tailored for bombing, and a third for vehicles.
Thanks for all the help guys, it is appreciated.

sorry but if i understand you correctly, you are incorrect...
I have three different functions on most of my X52 buttons. They are different when i change the "Mode" with the rotor on the stick.
