Wow that is a good thread, thanks for the repost Del.  While I've gotten to the point of enjoying a small degree of success in the arenas it's largely based on trial and error rather than an actual understanding of what's going on at a fundamental level.  I've always thought that knowing WHY a particular maneuver works is just as important if not more so than knowing WHEN to use it.
