I bought a can of CRC Freeze Off and should be using it to remove a few things from my Grand Cherokee. I've yet to use Freeze Off yet.
But my question is this, I've been told this stuff is even better? http://www.kanolabs.com/ (http://www.kanolabs.com/)

We use Kroil on our steam locomotive, it has allowed removal of bolts frozen on more than 55 years ago.

IT'S BEEN awhile since i've used aero-kroil...like 3 or 4 years. the stuff worked very well, but i think that freeze off seems to work better for me.
-
The first time I used Aero Kroil was the when I got up here, seems to work about as well as Freeze Off, PB Blaster, etc.
-
I use Loctite freeze n release a fair bit, works well. Another extroadinary product is Bolt Off but I think that might be Australian only. I sell all this kind of stuff as well as use it and have had never had a complaint about either only great praise, which says a lot coming from some of my totally tardy customers, but having experience of using those products myself I can say that if anything in a spray can is going to work, its them.

I haven't used any of that stuff for years. 6 point sockets, a good impact gun and 6 point wrenches handles any problems I come across...well almost. I ran into a torque converter bolt the other day that I had to notch and hit with the air hammer to get it off.
I prefer PB Blaster but would be laughed out of the shop if I brought a can of that into work :lol

after i tried freeze off, i threw all of my cans of pb blaster in the garbage. it can't hold a candle to freeze off.
i do, however, keep a can of wd40 around, for little things like door hinges, etc.....
BTW...how'd ya make out with it dude?

ya.....i've snapped boltheads right off using the 6point/impact method. done it with the 6point/half inch drive breaker bar with a cheater pipe too.
hit the same types of things with freeze off, go do something else for a couple of minutes, come back, and the things break loose. quicker and easier than using a torch. no drilling out the bolts i just broke. :D
-
just did a fuel tank in a 94 ranger. it's never been out. the bolts weren't budging. hhit em with freeze off, and not only did they come loose, but i was able to use my 3/8" impact, rather than my 1/2".
just dropped a tank in a 94 chevy pickup. these are notorious for the fuel lines just above the tank rotting to the point where they will not come off. same thing......freeze off....and they came off easily.
i can't say enough good about this stuff. :aok

S-10 by any chance? Back in high school I had one of those that I got used and it was poorly maintained before I got it:

That truck was extremely tough to work with due to the incredible amount of rot all over it. Ended up cutting off the old bed and built a new one out of some pressure treated lumber :) Later slapped some royal blue Rustoleum as a paint job for the cab half, which ended up looking quite nice :lol I actually miss that truck a lot, not gonna lie.

nah..this one's a c-1500. as for the fuel systems, they have the same types of fittings though........

I work in a salvage garage pulling motors, trannys, fuel tanks and other crap so I'm lucky where I can just cut off alot of stuff. Today I started on a Isuzu SUV wrecked in the front so I'll take the sawzall to the radiator support :lol it's a 08' so I'll have to save the fuel lines as they're in good shape and the boss tends to get pissed if we cut them.
And Cap, what ya think about Snapon tool boxes? I need a good box for here at home. Are they any better then Craftsman in your opinion?

for home? i have a 20 old craftsman there. here at the shop, i have a matco. i had a brainfart, and bought it. that one's about 14 or so years old.
snap on makes some really great stuff......but it is soooooooooooooooo over priced...............
-
I concur with CAP on the box, Snap-on makes great products but they are ridiculously over priced. I've been all about Craftsman since the day I started working in a shop 4 years ago, it's not the greatest but you can run to Sears anytime you need something replaced. Snap-on, Matco, etc you have to call out the truck, but they have some amazing service from what I've heard.
Up here we use Snap-on products almost exclusively, but then again we're not the ones footing the bill. Get what you like, they all work the same.

I had a MAC Maximizer long ago, traded it in on a Snap/On 7006 about 10yrs ago...
After they got rid of the plastic corners on the 7000series... Great box, worth every penny...
I wish that it had the stiffer drawer retainer tension tho... Gotta watch that tip over stuff...
Box that big, ya have to beware gettin killed by it... No kiddin!!!

know what else too? remember the ratcheting box wrenches we had before gearwrenches came out?
i bought a set from matco....the standard set if i recall. went to sears the following weekend, saw the exact same thing fr less than half of what i paid. i bought the craftsman metric set there, then when my matco dude came in, i looked at his. they had the EXACT same part numbers, but his were stamped matco, the others craftsman. i've oufn that to be the case with a lot of hand tools.
air tools, i use ingersol rand for anything 1/2" drive........nothing stronger or more durable in my opinion.
i use snap on's line wrenches almost exclusevily. they're the only ones that've never slipped on me. same with their torx sockets.
i don't have to buy too much anymore, as i've been in this sooo long, i don't need much though.
-
Ingersol, yep, have the same opinion... Still have a MAC234 (Ingersol made) double hammer.. That thing still whips ass!!! Kinda heavy, compared to the newer ones... But none of the newer ones come even close in power... Plus it has grease zerks, and oil reservoir in the grip... Gotta love that attn to detail...
The Snap/On line wrenches are def better than the MAC units, neither will slip, (although line nuts do collapse inside the wrench).. But the Snap/On units have narrower ends, which allows them to fit in places where the thicker MAC ones won't fit, (like pressure lines on steering racks, where the fittings are very close together)..
Same goes for Crows feet... Over the last decade Snap/on has been subcontracting some of their tools too..
Very dissappointing!!! But I suppose that its the "way of the world" in this day and age...
Actually, I have been out of the "Car Biz" for a long time now.. Gettin too old to bend over fenders anymore!!!
But I did very well in life thru that business.. Got me everything I ever wanted...
:salute to all the bruised knuckle wrench twisters out there!!!

I've had a nice Craftman box for years now and like it alright, but have always wanted a nice Snapon. I just can't talk myself into spending that kind of money.

well, i'm hoping this business buys me my cessna, my house with its own runway, and a few other things. it doesn't have to be now.......but it's the main reason i went into business on my own.
