Title: SB2C question...
Post by: Serenity on July 14, 2009, 08:26:34 PM
Does anyone else see a problem for the gunner? How exactly was this used in combat? Did they pop up or something?

The rear fuselage behind the gunner is designed to collapse down.

That said, direct rer shots are not available.

Nope SB2C with the rear fuselage collapsed so the gunner can operate his weapon.

No, but the freakin' resolution of your picture causes problems for us :).  Seriously, try something in the 700-800 pixel wide range next time--I've been noticing a lot of this lately (widescreen monitors perhaps?)...

The way that gun system worked was just another example of why that plane was cursed before it even got on the boat...

Sorry, habit, bigger size usually means bigger detail.

IIRC, that cutaway tail is unique to the SB2C-3 and later models.

Glad to see someone else reads Aircraft Resource Center.  Even though I don't have a place to build or an airbrush and compressor anymore, I still read and keep up with it.  I love building models.  Good post WW!

I don't really see how having a splinter shield would help against a 20mm round from the cannons most jap planes carried.
