Post by: EskimoJoe on July 17, 2009, 05:53:04 PM
A buddy of mine sent this link to me via E-mail. Very interesting information about the SR-71 blackbird. Enjoy! http://www.greatdanepromilitary.com/SR-71/index.htm

I have read the flight manual on the SR-71....

Some of the warnings would make your head spin. Things like unstarts and a very very very (did I mention very) specific window of AoA. It was something like 3 or 4 degrees at high altitude/high mach settings. Its interesting to note that several SR-71s were lost from "uncontrollable pitch up" because of this. The do not exceed speed approached 3.3 mach at some altitudes. I believe the aircraft has been even faster than the records show.

Great aircraft performance wise!

Good read for those that like technical data.
