Why does the B-25C have two different solid noses? The only difference I could see was that one of them has a grayish nose, and the other is the same as the rest of the plane. I have asked this question many times but no one has seemed to give me an answer.
Second question... Why does the B-25C top turret default to face forward? When you first get in it, it faces the rear, but when you move to the cockpit and back, it faces forward... And when you go to turn the turret around, it takes 3-4 seconds to get it to face the tail again. Those 3-4 seconds could mean life or death. And even though you set it to face the tail it defaults to face forward again...

The 25C strafer was modeled to show the two different looks the strafer 25C had with the 5th AF. On some the glass at the front wasn't always painted over. It was a nice touch to allow the skinners to do different versions correctly.

Guppy answered the color question. As for the turret direction...I would guess it is some sort of moddeling error or a bug or something. You should probably ask Scuzzy or hightech, or someone.

I believe I heard something about the top turret being slaved foreward to give two more forward firing guns.

I've seen that mentioned too. That makes some sense for the later H and J with the turret forward, but I'm not sure how that would work with the turret so far back on the 25C.

Would not matter if they were mounted in the tail as long as it was above the forward fuselage.

Which it's not.

Wasnt sure either way so I snapped a screenie real quick......

Looks like we wouldnt want to have the turret slaved forward on this model....its at least 5-10 degrees up.

And like I said, with the turret facing the other direction, it takes about 3 seconds to rotate it to the back, and if you switch positions you have to do it again.

Here is my post about the B-25H and the top turret.

It seems the top turret is slaved to the primary guns in the nose. If you hit "F" from the cockpit the gun spins around forward. If you use "N" which I think is fire both the turret remains pointed aft.
-
I find the resetting of the turret position very frustrating, and it seems to happen in all aircraft with gunners. I'm giving a big +1 to the wish for the turret position to remain where you leave it.
-
It's a little annoying in the B-25, but in other bombers it's tied to the way the turret positions are modeled. They turn to cover any point in their arc of fire that the player is aiming at, giving concentrated fire to that location. If they were to remain where you last left them you would substantially reduce the return fire the bomber is capable of. Which is a popular idea with a lot of people here however I think it would just make bombers a bigger sitting duck than they already are.
-
Agreed. Even good gunners like 999000 have ratios of 1:1, 2:1 at most (ktd ratio).
I say we slave the turrets to the back unless they are like the A20G where you are better off flying instead of gunning. Or where an extra set of guns shooting forward would help a lot.
-
They go back to the default position even if you haven't fired with the n key.
-
OK, but that doesn't make a lot of sense. Why would a gunner turn his turret to face where the biggest group of guns on the plane faces?

To add fire to the strafing run.

All buffs do this--If I'm in B24, when I jump from tail to nose, I pass through pilot on the way, and nose gun is perfectly 12:00 forward, and from there, upper or belly is same direction. If con goes around to 6:00, go to pilot, then tail, THEN either upper or belly, as both will be pointing to dead 6 alREADLY
