Did the IL2 actually require almost full left rudder trim in flight?

In aces it does...

No, it's a mistake.  The incidence on the vertical stab is going the wrong way.  It'll be fixed next version.

Thanx Pyro!!  I noticed it requires almost full left aileron trim as well.
