Title: Landing challenge
Post by: 633DH98 on July 22, 2009, 01:06:20 PM
Has anyone landed the RV-8 on the port elevator of a carrier?  My first attempts were a go-around and a "landing" minus one wing and gear.  :uhoh

I can land an RV8 on the elevator and take off again unharmed.

The fun way to do it is take a d3a and back it up to the end of the carrier.  Try and take off and get it in there in one shot with no go around.

I was hoping it would be a challenge to land a plane with everything except the engine ruined...

You mean take off from the back of the deck and immediately fly and land into the elevator?

I'm lucky if I can even hit the flight deck w/o crashing. And that's on a good day   ;)
