I did a thorough search of the forums and didn't find a previous topic on this so I'm making this wish now.
I wish there was either a stop sign or crossing guard on the service roads at airfields to keep the trucks from crossing the runway as you take off.

+1 I decided to do my part and take up a 38 thursday night. I was run over on the runway by and tugboat and its barges. My engines had barely started before the vicious attack. just not fair.

You know those things are made of the chemical element Skuzzonium?
Brittle enough to disintegrate under 3-cal fire, but dense enough to overturn Tigers with the merest touch.
(Only denser element in the universe is Hitechnium.)

Perhaps the quote for the next release of Aces High should be, "Beware of the Hitechnium!"

I hear that they are working on a wirblewind with a turret made from unobtainium.

The only things made out of Hitechnium, of course, are trees and sheep.

I can think of a few homosexual pilots.... :P

I like the idea. :aok I can't count the times I have been tagged by those trucks right on take off or upping out of the VH.

You're right waystin2, this crossing guard is exactly what we need. If we were to put just ordinary stop signs/signals or crossing arms, the truck drivers would just ignore them and drive past. But with this crossing guard, those drivers wouldn't even think twice about it.

Would be a perfect job for squeakers. Easier to learn than this friggin bombsight calibration, the good feeling being a good boy doing something for the community, learning a sense of duty and last but not least: having that great feeling of being important installed by a fancy badge!

It's a friggin' win-win situation all around. Not only does it stop the reckless driving from the supply truck drivers but it will also help install a healthy dose of self-worth and community involvement for the squeakers.

I can count on one hand the times I have been tagged by trucks. The near misses go beyond counting..
EX: DDGhost and I had upped 163s to kill as HQ mission. On take off, we narrowly skipped over a line of trucks, mygear even brushed over onetruck. On landing, we chose a different field and decided to dead stick it in, just to show off to each other. On final approach, another line of trucks passed right accross the middle of the field. I had enough airspeed to roll onto my wing into the ground ot work as an airbrake. DDGhost was luckier and passed between the trucks somehow and slid to a stop.
