Title: 31 JULY 2009 Squad Jeep Races
Post by: AKKuya on July 25, 2009, 06:06:07 PM: We have 5 short jeep races planned for the next event. This will be a JEEP ONLY event. Vehicle supplies and troops will be used. The map for the event will be the SFMA map. It's the one with the three high altitude bases. The finish for each race will be the capturing of V69.

Race 1) Players will launch from the Vehicle Hangar at A48 (12,14 8.5K) and proceed downhill to V69
Race 2) Players will choose from A48, A55, A49, and A41 spawn points and proceed to V69

The next three races will be shooting at the Green Guys.

Race 3) Race will be same format as Race 1. Combat will dispense at pre-arranged time.
Race 4) Race will be same format as Race 2. Combat will dispense immediately after spawn.

The last race will be different than Race 3 and 4. Race 3 and 4 are unlimited lives.

Race 5) Race will be same format as Race 2. Combat will dispense immediately after spawn. THIS WILL BE A ONE LIFE EVENT RACE.

The field acks at V69 will be down so no worries about that. The jeeps carry three troops apiece. Tactics will be necessary in gaining the capture. This will allow for a squad to get a player at the maproom to "steal" a capture from a squad who already got 9 troops in from 3 jeeps.

More information will come in the next few days before the event. :salute

I like the idea of the 5 shorter races this time around. This will allow guys to come in as they want and leave as they want if they only want to run 1 of the 5 as an example.

For those of you that are thinking Jeep races wont be fun or not for the "manly" bunch i recommend you try it once. There are tuff, challenging and require practice if you expect to win them.

Standing by for the greater explanation of the rules for each race. I have questions after reading your post above.

Time for the start will be 10 PM Eastern, 9 Central, etc etc------

All players will monitor chanell 200 for snickering, bullying, etc etc.

You may still use your squad VOX and range.

Tuk, do you have any idea how many of your squaddies will attend?

I am having same issues with this new version as frame rates are terrible.

Upcoming FSO will be hurting also.

This is all just trial and error right now but it is getting better. I think they are a fun race inbetween FSO's, besides you will be able to kill people this time around.

With the new update, there are many players having technical issues. That is completely understandable about not participating. The plans for the event were made several weeks ago long before HTC made the update without notice. This was a complete surprise to us.

We'll try to do the race one way or another.

Shegotya is running this event and we appreciate her time and talents.

We hope to have many turnouts. A lot of people have been reading this thread but only a few have responded so we really dont know how many will be with us.

Race 5 is a surprise and only Shegotya, AKKuya and myself know what will transpire. We kept the secret from our own squaddies.

But I think that it was an exciting race, { :lol} killin some people too. :t Just wish we won all of the races, the AK's of course. Cant wait and see whats next.

Post by: akbmzawy on August 01, 2009, 05:31:11 PM: I was very happy with the number of participants who came to fight it out in what I call an even theater as far as rides.

First race, no fighting was won by the 325th Checkertails VPG. KTM2174 took the capture.

Second race, no fighting was Arabian Knights, AKKillz who took the capture.

Third race, where we started shooting at the other guys was fun to the max. The race was on with people getting killed everywhere. The Arabian Knights, AKShrddr gets the capture for this one.

Fourth race, was more fighting and a lot of confusion. I captured the base but I missed it in my text buffer. Everyones wondering who took it that time and I am even asking who took it. Finally I expandd my text buffer and read that I took the base. DUH ME!

Race 5 was the surprise. It wasnt planned at the beginning but we chose to have a free-for-all. Some theater changes were made so only one jeep with 3 troops would take the capture. This is where we were killing everyone, even our own squaddies. Sorry Mop, I took you down 3 times, lol. After we all spawned in to our respective choices we checked to see who was around us and tried to kill them as fast as possible. After the initial killing was done and some seperation between racers the surprise kicked in. The arena went to total darkness with fog. Alot of clammor was made about this but it was all good. The Arabian Knights, and again AKShrddr took the base for the second time this evening.

All in all I think those who stuck it out to the end had a great time.

Would love to have some feedback here from those who participated and suggestions as well.

I already have some plans for the next event.

During the last race, AKDogg had done some testing on the base capture element enabling one player to capture the base with three troops. This has opened the doors now for anything possible with troops. Ideas are being tossed around between AKBmzawy and myself on the next race.

We're discussing a race involving jeeps dividing into two teams. The two teams are on opposite countries. The two bases are next to each other. Each team launches either from a spawn point or VH and races to the other teams base. The first team to get the capture wins. No defensive group at the towns and no combat. We're calling it The Joust. These are plans to be modified on an ongoing process before race time.
