Perhaps one of the most technically correct shows on the Discovery, History Channel or NatGeo type networks.

Or at least the potential....

If it's the same guy I saw him on an episode using the cross bow from the middle ages. Wow that thing was not very accurate. You could see the bolt veer off. Allegedly a good shot could pick someone off pretty far out. I want to say a 100 yards but I don't remember for sure.

I will say this after watching the show. I'm not putting an apple on my head.

he still faught for this country

"Ermey arrived in Vietnam where he served for 14 months with the Marine Wing Support Group 17. He then served two tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan, during which he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and was medically retired in 1972 for several injuries incurred during his tours. On May 17, 2002 he received an honorary promotion to Gunnery Sergeant (E-7) from Marine Corps Commandant James L. Jones in recognition of his role as Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann in the film Full Metal Jacket."

Watching the old cannons fire reminds me why I love my GF. She has a 3-pounder cannonball that she fired and then dug out of the hillside sitting on the book shelf next to me. She comes home from work smelling of gunpowder.  :aok

I love R Lee Ermey, especially his role in Full Metal Jacket...  Which if I recall correctly (I may not), he was supposed to be an "advisor" for that movie, but when the he was demonstrating how a real DI would act, the Director decided to use him instead of the actor who had been hired for the role.

All that said...

I think he is starting to show his age a bit...  Some of the new show sounds a bit forced and fake...

No doubt, I would by the man a few beers if ever given an opportunity.

I would by the man a few of whatever-the-hell he wanted to drink no matter how expensive if ever given an opportunity.

fixed that for ya!

R Lee is the man. Quite possibly the best thing to happen to USMC recruiters in the last 25 years.

That being said, given the chance, I'd buy a few rounds for any man who had fought for this country, regardless of his fame. My little brother earned his CIB in Somolia in '93 with B Co 3rd Rangers, and one of the greatest honors I've had is having had the chance to hang out with him and his buddies and listen to their stories and buy the beers.

 :salute to all Veterans.

Ya, I'd really have to agree with you on that...

A good friend of mine is on his last 14 days of a tour in Afghanistan....  He has earned The CiB, I must admit that I'm a little jealous...  The CiB is something that only real heroes who have been in harms way can earn...
