Shouldn't the boost gauge read 11lb, not 9lb?

Depends on which engine.

Nashwan, most of the boost gauges in AH don't indicate correctly. Eg: the F6F-5 pulls 60" MAP at MIL power(RL 59" was WEP)and 67" MAP with WEP!!! If that's correct, then the Hellcat would have like 2400HP!
Spitfire F.IX boost gauge shows the same critical altitudes as the V-1650 from the P-51D, and alot of the planes never show a drop in MAP at all...
