Title: My Trailblazer
Post by: Husky01 on July 28, 2009, 04:45:46 PM
Finally finished my 05 Chevy Trailblazer. So I figured I would go ahead and post some pics. My apologies for the quality they were taken with a cell phone.

Stickers are not only super ghey, they are also an open invitation for someone to smash out your window and steal your stuff.  Especially when the amp is just laying on the floor in plain sight.

That what insurance and a security system is for.

Man you got problems with my professional installation? lol j/k. But really if anything happens to the system it is fully covered.

So you black out your tags but let your GPS tell everyone what street you live on?  :lol

I own a 2005 GMC Envoy myself. Same thing more or less, nice SUVs.

That what insurance and a security system is for.

Ah, but your confidence and security system will do nothing to impede what a thief percieves as an oportunity.  Let me know how many times you replace your back window and go through filing with your insurance company before you stop advertising what you got hidden behind that tint with stickers.

Also, do you know how much your insurance will cover on electronics and entertainment systems loss?  If it's a standard policy, it won't be more than a couple hundred bucks or so.

Just warning you (I really do hope that no harm comes to your car, be it at your hands or someone else's), with more age comes more experience and wisdom... unfortunatley.

Good looking ride though, I do like Chevy Blazers and Trailblazers (though personaly I'm not a fan of a lot of black on black... in particular the black rims... but it's all in the eye of the beholder).

Nice wheels gold dweeb.   You should seriously take it into consideration of taking that sticker off the back.  Now all you need is a lift kit and you will be set. j/k.  But seriously take the sticker off the window.

Hehe...  When I was younger and more concerned with my car (because I didn't have a mortgage etc), Pirelli tires were expensive and totally wasted on anything other then performance cars...

Guess that has changed...

You know, my 70 year old mother drives a Trailblazer...

 :rofl

Seriously though, as long as you are enjoying it, good for you.

It helps that the cadillac you're driving is arguably the best production car in the US...  It'll face some serious competition from whatever chebby the holden commodore / pontiac G8 is resurructed as in a couple of years.  The G8 is a really nice sedan and it costs half of the caddy for approximately the same (or slightly better) performance.  It'll be a really nice chebby if GM can make it happen in today's obamanation.  The new timeline for the new CAFE standards are pretty much set up to exclude the nicer big sedans from the market, and that's kind of a shame.  My G8 gets pretty decent mileage for a big sedan.

Back on the OP topic...  The car looks really nice but for what it's worth, I'll cast my vote for ditching the stickers.  The car is practically stealthed out with the paint, tint, and wheels, so any big stickers just sort of stand out in my opinion.  The chrome and other accents can be classy but a big yellow sticker doesn't seem to fit the car.

That CTS-V is effing Baddazzed, Pewter. Almost as cool as that C6 in the background.  :rock

Although I'm partial to a bright red C5 Vette myself....... mine's making close to 550hp at the crank and makes women squeel and children cry.  :t

BTW husky, that TBlazer looks good.... just make it killer under the hood and she'll be good to go.....

Far from it with the CTS-V.   The Rear Differential problems are still plaguing the CTS-V's.  But the V6 version, I'm with you on a great production car.  Gimme the G8 over the CTS-V anyday.

Ethan, a few tips:

1.)   See if you can get a Rear Bumper Covers from the SS version.   The biggest eyesore on the TB, Envoy, Rainer, Saab 9-7 is the "coffee can muffler".   The SS covers that eyesore and makes a complete redo of the bellybutton end.   Also, throw a Cold Air Intake like an Air Raid, K&N FIPK on it.   You'll gain about 20hp with that engine.

2.)   Some are ripping on the wheels, the wheels you chose compliment the vehicle.   Just keep a close eye on your CV joints up front and Wheel Bearings in the bellybutton end.   The added weight makes a difference.

3.)   I see what people are talking about with the Stickers.   But honestly, stickers aside, if "someone wants your chit, they're breaking in regardless".

4.)   Enjoy it.

agreed, however the stickers will draw in the thieves much easier than if they have to go around looking in cars to scope them out. Also the SS bumpers would really set the TB off. Good recommendation.

The New (09-up) cts-v does not share the rear end problem the first gen have. There is a new fix out for the V1s which is a set of new custom half shafts. Supposed to eliminate wheel hop all together which is what is killing the rears in these cars. So far no one has had a rear end failure with the new axles to my knowledge. They are a little steep at ~$1600 for the pair. But that is cadillac tax for you. If it says corvette or cadillac on it you are going to be charged a toejam load more for parts.

Thanks fellas.

As far as the one comment about wasting money on the Pherrile tires I can say I got them for basically next to nothing :aok

Karaya I do some at some point down the road plan to make this a SS clone by getting the SS body kit and emblems. Probably wont be for another few years or so as money will need to go towards other things. :)

Don't do the emblem thing.   Just add your personal touch in other ways.   The rear bumper has always been an eyesore for those vehicles and I'm shocked that those went through the design phase like that.

IIRC, the SS bumper has a hitch cover, but not many of them are up here.

I like it.

Looks like just the right seat height to not have to plop into it or step up to it.

The SS bumper does go down farther. The only thing is if I put the bumper on I'd have to modify the exhaust because the SS version has a duel exhaust flow. More modifications just means more money ha.

Just get a custom exhaust from the Cat on back.   Shouldn't be all that expensive and route it in the middle of the opening.   I just think this is one of those times, where "customizing it" slightly is better than "poser" (if you throw the SS badges on).

Like I said, just add things as you can.   Even if you never do these things, you still have a nice ride for your age.   :rock

I decided to put some Blue LED lights underneath all the seats that would go on and off when the bass hits. I must say for only twenty bucks or so it turned out quite nicely. I will try and post a video tomorrow night.

We just upgraded the old twelve inch subs to two square fifteens in a 12 cubic square foot box running 1.5kw. Will post a few pics of the build and install tomorrow.

I own a 02' Trailblazer. If you face your subs towards the rear hatch you will get a lot more kick out of it. I have a 12" Rockford in a slotted box. After much playing around with it I realized that would max the output. If you sit in the front and hold a lighter up the sub will put the flame out. I also installed the amp into the back of the left rear passenger seat so it is hidden behind the sub and less wires giving it a cleaner look. I also run the power from underneath the left rear passenger seat from the power box located there. I dont know if later years have this.

Just an idea, but I went to Home Depot and picked up some cheap blue spray paint and colored my dome lights. So when you light up your interior its gives it a nice blue tint. Cheap upgrade that can add quite a bit to your look on the inside.
