Title: AH2140.EXE will not work at all. Windows XP
Post by: ab6pn1949 on July 28, 2009, 05:21:56 PM
Was forced to download AH2140.EXE as I was informed by AH that my old program was no longer valid.

After a 20 minute download it will not work at all. The AH logo and graphics comes up but when I try to go to the online arenas the entire program crashes. It will not connect whatsoever. When I hit cancel the program freezes up completely. Hitting Alt/Ctrl/ Delete does nothing.
Forced to switch the computer off. Now that is a pisser!

Totally deleted the AH2140.EXE and started over. Results are exactly the same.

I give up!  Anybody else having this problem running AH2140.EXE with Windows XP.

Great the new patch fixed it to where I cant play at all.  I had to re-download everything and when I click on the AH2141 icon, it gives me some BS error report  AH2141.EXC is not a valid Win32 application.

Well they got a week to figure this out, or they lose a custormer of 6 years.  They must hate money.

You guys are the ones with problems, CHECK YOUR COMPUTERS !!!

I was just flying....with 300 other people, I have hires textures and everything maxed out on my computer. I flew there a gang bang that the Knights were throwing down on the Rooks and my Frame rate never dropped below 59.

If you want help post your Dxdiag, if you want to cry and complain, please go play IL2  :D

the point of a good game is that it is compatible with most computers

So when a new version of COD comes out and your computer can't handle it it will be their fault right?

Post your spec/dxdiag maybe someone can help you tweak your computer. If your not willing to work at it, why should any one else?

i think versions only should change when factory parts are even outdated

I only posted that info to show the other guy that it's HIS computer thats not working right, not the game.

If 300 people are playing the game, then more than likely it's not the game that has an issue, its your computer.

If you have been playing "forever" then you should know that, as well as knowing that there are a number of things you can do to check your computer, instead of just coming to the boards to complain and wait while someone else fixes it for you.

Well you know what?

Its people like you with your nonstop moaning about the game that ruin it for many MANY others.  This isn't a primary hobby of mine.  So I don't know a ton of stuff about computers

All I know is last night it was working fine and now even after hitting the alternate download I get the error report.

Once again it was working fine before and not now.  Check the other post there genius, seems to me MANY others are having LOTS of problems with it.

If you gave a crap about this in the first place, you would have offered help.  Instead you're and internet toughgirl who wants to critique and establish your dominance as a computer guy.

The game wasn't broke in the first place...and this is your Q for the last word.  I'm out!

ahhhh another 12 year old who "Wants it NOW!"  LOL!

You want help? Post something other than "fix it!"

Post the first third of your dxdiag, post how many processes you have running. With out any information the best anyone can do is to tell you to wiggle the thing-a-ma-bob !

You come in here a post like a 12 year old your going to get treated like one. On the other hand you could come in here and ask questions, post information, try suggestions and reply with the results. There are many people here who will gladly help. Most on the other hand won't bother trying to help a cry baby.

Good luck!

Great so how do I get that DXdgy thing? I dont know.

I'm not a crybaby either.  I happen to be a veteran of the USAF with 16 years in.  1A771.  1 DFC for Valor 1 MSM 12 AirMedal 3 Aerial Acheivment Medals 1 Commandation medal 1 Achievment medal 1 AF combat action medal.

How do I get this information?  You want to help?  Or do you want to come off condesending and insulting to everyone that isnt up to your standard.

Madguns...in windows xp click on start then run...type in dxdiag and hit enter...

once the direct x screen comes up...look at the bottom where it says "save all information"...click that and it will create a text file...save it to your desktop then open it and copy/paste the from the very top to where the video card info ends...you will know it when you see it.

Need the video card info that is just below what you posted.  :aok

First off...get your Windows XP service pack 3 installed...and get Direct X v 9.0c as well while you're on the Windows update site.

I'm betting you will have to update your video card drivers too...but I'll wait.

Ok first and foremost are those Windows based updates you really need...then you need to update your video card drivers...don't use the very latest one...go 1 or 2 revs back unless they were replaced to fix major issues.

you will not benefit with any drivers above the Ati Cat 4.12 drivers for this particular Videocard........

link to DirectX 9.0c

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9226a611-62fe-4f61-aba1-914185249413&displaylang=en

download it and install it.....it places the DirectX files where they need to be.........

Madguns...if you can...set your monitor resolution to no more than 1280x1024 at 60Hz...or 1024x768 at 72 - 75Hz...then open the game and check your frame rates...should improve.

Some people have posted links to some applications that kill un needed processes on your system to improve gaming performance...you might want to install one of those as well.
