Ok, before I got the update, I'm not sure what my frame rate was but it was a lot better than with the new update. Now I can barely manage 50 in the tower and hanger, let alone a mere 20 in flight. Please give me some tips, also on the clipboard on the map the names of bases will constantly switch from dark to light or sometimes even diss-appear. Please help.

Not being a smart a@@ but many other people have posted the same problems as you and there are answers all over the place...did you happen to look at any of the other posts abut frame rates? I know the search bar works well here.
-
Well even with the terrain low res. I can only get 10-15 frame rate. Well that is ok. You can't get everything. It must be after geek squad replace my hard drive. My laptop is only 1 year old too. Well I can still play offline ok, if it freeze most of the time.
-
Well I've fixed the frame rate, but the field names still dissappear and turn light and dark. Also, it won't let me get all of the detailed graphics stuff (detailed water, detailed enviornment stuff) so I assume I must get a new graphics card?
-
A DxDiag would confirm your assumptions. As for the field numbers not appearing/disappearing and changing colors, sounds as if you have a driver issue.

Just do a quick check and see if you have direct x 9.0c, as well as the latest drivers for your video card. What video card are you using now?
-
Narsus, the newest drivers aren't always the best. Sometimes to fix a problem you have to roll back the drivers.

Never said they were, but without any information about his video card and a dxdiag general ideas are all that can be given.
I am running the latest drivers from nvidia for my 8800gts and all is well.
I agree the latest and greatest are not always the best but if your sitting there with 2 year old drivers it can be the fix.

How do I find out what card, and how do I find direct x 9.0c?

When you first start Aces High, go to Video settings, your card name will be highlighted at the top.
To find out what direct X you are running...
go to Start
Run
type in "dxdiag"
If you do not have direct X 9, here is the URL

I checked, and I do have Direct x 9.0
Here is my Video Card- Intel(R)82915G/GV/910GVL Express Chipset Family
-
The Intel video chip is one of the slowest and cheapest video devices around. They do not have any dedicated RAM. They steal system RAM for thier own use.
There is not one Intel video chip made which can run the game at acceptable levels, with the "Detailed Terrain" option checked.
-
So what do you recomend then?
-
What kind of card should I get to replace it?
-
Unit I had that express intel (R) crap in my Dell I got a Nvidia 9600gt and a 400watt power supply. I have frame rates of 75 with everyhting turned on but i'm still working on getting the stutters out. I'd go with anything Nvidia my graphics look great.

Thankyou!!!!

Ditto what Belial said. I have used Nvidia for years, some of the 9000 series cards can be found pretty cheap.
Try newegg.com

I seem to have fixed my stuttering unit I updated by sound drivers which was very confusing. But I would reccomend the Nvidia 9600 series you can find them pretty cheap and I can help you with setup.

I got Best BUy to insert the card but it didn't work :cry :cry
