Is this the best compromise the lower end systems will get for playability with the new terrains? The old version looked 10 times better than this on my computer, but this is the best I can get with the new version. It's hard to get immersed into the game when I am flying over astroturf.
-
same boat, might sit out till i get a new machine
-
Same thing for me. Terrain looks like a green blob without depth, texture or contrast. Absolute rubbish.
In short, you can hardly tell where the ground is.
Is this the best you can come up with, HTC?

At what point is HTC expected to build for your system? I am running what I have always thought of as a low end system... Bought the core machine at Wal-Mart for less then $500 about 2 years ago... (So it was probably pretty outdated when I bought it) Bought an $80 PSU and a $100 video card about six months ago, at Best Buy (so I paid more then I would have if I had bought from Newegg or another similar company)...
I'm running a pretty weak system really... But I can still get nice looking frame rates in the 50s with the new release....

Some people can't afford to shell out even as little as $500 right now. HTC should definitely move forward with their endeavors to improve the game for the masses, but imo these dumbed down graphics settings are going to cause a lot of canceled accounts.
For the sake of comparison this is what my dumbed down graphics settings looked like on earlier version:

i agree, i feel like im flying on a nintendo 64 game now.
like mario meets AH =/
and for shelling out $$$
not gonna happen, dont have it and wont have it. not in todays economy.
i might have to cancel as well, all depends on how bored i get

Try downloading latest drivers for your video card, it may help.

Drivers wont create more video memory or video processing power

I did that I think I have a mid range system and cant run detailed textures due to frame rate spikes and stuttering. I dont know I had to leave the first time due to computer issues now I may have to again. :cry It still is fun to play just having a hard time getting immersed with the astro turf gardens but it sure is smooth and shadowy.
-
Defragmenting might help a little

Grizz, I just download to my PC at work which is AMD 3200(i think) 1.79 Ghz 1.2 gb ram and on board X200 radeon graphics chip. When I played around I found that setting 1024 res and then removing terrain detail I was able to get 30-35 frames and with bump map on 28-32. It wasn't super eye candy stuff but it did look ok and at those frames is playable....Granted this was in the offline mode but still there is a reasonable amount going on there. I did try the lower res too and there was no significant change in frames but a lot of difference in looks... oh yeah I am XP sp2. I have not trimmed down and have programs running in the background.
Not sure if this helps but perhaps if you haven't already
you could give this a go and see what develops over the next short while ( seeing as you had 59 frames in your pic I don't believe you will lose that much if any by changing your res to 1024)
As a comparison the last version I was getting the same frames with high res pack on... not that this onboard graphics could handle it

Peeps with good systems should enjoy the perks of having them! Uprades are actually fairly inexpensive :rock
The answer would be to----> UPGRADE <--- :aok

Let them work out the bugs first. May not need to.

I can't upgrade an outdated motherboard, ergo, I have to buy an entire new computer to play one game. Not gonna happen.

I upgraded my computer for this. I have no 6yo GPU or a Z80A CPU.
Next please. ;)

Ebay is your friend ladies. You can get TONS of good computer stuff very reasonably priced if not dirt freakin cheap. Sometimes it only takes one or two small tweaks on a comp to get the desired effect. Hopefully after a few days the gut reactions and instant cries will subside and everyone will troubleshoot and fix their business.
-
I have a new laptop that has no problem playing games with better graphic than this I dont get it. and shreck three hours of troubleshooting.
-
ill tell all you guys saying "upgrade", give me the $$$ and ill upgrade, how about that? deal?
untill then, i dont want to hear it

Besides, you can't expect the rest of the gaming world to hang around in the 90s because you don't want to upgrade.
correction. most of us cant afford it. the economy is jacked up. and just cant pay hundreds of dollars to upgrade a damn comp to play a cartoon game. My money goes to more important things.
like i said before, you give me the money, ill be more that happy to upgrade, untill then, dont want to hear it

Here's an idea..... How about we wait until BETA is finished before we start crying?
My FR is awful in Beta. Unplayable.... but I'm not whining about it because it's a frigging test.
They've said all along that the low-end graphics will be sorted out.
Sheesh.

UHhhhhhhh "Your Version is out of date, please download the newest version"

takes awhile for those darn aussies to get the update :lol

Hahah! Really!?
Oh! Damnit!
I better go back and edit that then.
:lol
My mistake, I missed the update.
I don't play much these days... last semester at uni.
I apologise for the beta rant.
My point still stands regarding holding back progress because of the American economy.
You can't expect people to stand around and wait for you to upgrade your system.

I'm going to refrain from downloading the update before uni is finished.... Now I won't be tempted to play! Hahaha.
I always end up staying up too late when I get flying with my mates.
I'm just going to step back into the corner of this thread and pretend that I didn't say anything. :aok

Not to rain on anyones parade or anything, but what happened to the "Graphics don't matter." crowd?
-
Well I can see enemy tanks real easy now. The Tiger may even be worth the perks now because you can use the gun as a stand off weapon in this new terrain. No trees no bushes just flat open ground. Now if I only had some frame rate to try it out.
