Title: new patch tested??
Post by: Matrix on July 28, 2009, 10:09:53 PM
Just wondering if this patch was tested before release.  surely SOOOOoooo many problems would have been found...........no?    just saying seems like it slipped thru the QC .  reminds me of the stimulus bill that wasn't read before being signed and the soon to be (hope not)  health care bill.

Did you download the beta and participate in it for the last month? Post any issues you had on the beta forum?

Go to the beta forums, and read the threads.

You people think tomorrow is never going to come?

It was in your own self interest to see if you could handle the new version, fix any issues you might have before it goes live.

I can't believe how many people just sat and did nothing, then whine when its here and they have issues.
I didn't download and run the Beta for HTC, I did it for ME, pure self interest. Once I saw I was getting 75 FPS in the beta and smooth I quit worrying about it.

HTC always does closed Alpha testing and Closed Beta testing............

when HTC decides to offer OPEN BETA TESTING, they do so to help the Players get accustomed to the New Up Coming Changes, and they also do it so Players can find out if they are going to experience problems.......

If you lack the ability to check out your own PC and see if things are going to work, or remain the same, or perhaps change......... then you only have yourself to blame.....

HTC can not and does not have every PC build ( prob in the thousands ) of the different Players in this game.......

btw......... every piece of Software including Operating systems is a "Continous Open Beta" they are always looking to improve it.......

nuff said!

Well you obviously don't read much either.... in the post by Narsus you were answered and then to top it of you obviously are unaware of forum rules

very proud of ya,  very happy you had time to do that.  for me i have not the time.  and the only issue i have is the stutters.  but with all the posts since the update, and if you've been in the game the side conversations going on makes me ask the question like it or not!

Go to the beta forum, read what HTC needs for a dxdiag and post it with the problem you are having.

I've been reading all of these type of threads today, and I must agree 100% with Ghosth, the open beta was for us all to test/comment on, if you didn't even bother to help the community by doing that, you can't complain now, can you?

there is a difference between a COMPLAINT and an OBSERVATION.   My thread was just an observation,  some of you should get out the websters dictionary.

My frames seem to actually have improved  120-150+  all settings maxed and running 1600x1200 res.  appears the only whining going on are those of you that feel as if we all should have downloaded and run the beta...........shame on us that didn't!

If you knew there was a beta, and refused to participate (I'll take a second to point out the obvious- participating in a beta is a good way to make sure it will run on YOUR system), you shouldn't be squeaking about the update not being tested on your system.

What a friggin' joke you are.  The beta was around for a few weeks to allow players to test the new changes and help find bugs.  You're too lazy to take part to see if your system can run the new update but not lazy enough to whine like an ungrateful tool.

Well said. While I sympathise with players who have lower end systems the writing was clearly on the wal that the new version was going to have better graphics, which also, like every other piece of evolutionary gaming code, is going to be more resource intensive.

I really dont see any AH caused show stopping bugs.

this is sheer lunacy. I guess you have never used generational software before. They provided the Beta as a service to their players not as a service to themselves.

Well said. I tried every version in beta with no problems. However I too was one of the ones who started having the "stutter" problems once the new version went live. Am I worried? No! Am I mad? No! As a community we work together to help one another. By doing so we and HiTech ( using "the force" ) we will get the problems fixed. I see far too many whines and not enough actual intelligent posts so that as a "Gaming" Community we can thrive and survive. O.k. just my .02 cents, moving on.

sorry to say but my alienware runs game peachy with everything maxed.  but after getting in the game and hearing all the chatter other people were experiencing and reading all the posts on the BBS it prompted my thread.

all the adolescent responses subsequent are just that.....adolescent.  If you think for one minute that my testing the beta would have made a difference then by all means go right ahead.  I had no doubts about the system i have running it.  For those that did run the beta good for you but undoubtedly you were doing it for yourselves and not for the greater community at least most of you.  Lazy, tool, lunacy, and whatever else you wanna throw speaks for itself and i just consider the source!

That is all..................dismisse d!!

If in fact your system is running the new version just fine why did you feel the need to add to the chaos going on on the BBs right now?  Were you voted the spokesperson for the dissapointed or did you just feel the need to fan the flames?

Here is the fix!!!! That's right finally got my computer to run with NO STUTTERS!!! It seems for whatever reason all of us who are having stutters have either Intel or AMD multi-cores, with graphic cards that give us great frame rates till the "hiccups" occur. What I did even after freeing up all system resources,
( I have 4 gigs of ram ), put more of the work load on my video card. By bumping up my Maximum pre-rendered frames to 4, I am able to use 75%-85% of my video's ram, versus of a setting of 3 Maximum pre-rendered frames and using only 50% of my video ram. Not sure what is in the coad that affects us multi-core users but the flow of data from the CPU to the GPU seems to be the key. I have now flown with everything on gettin 73-75 fps and NO lock-ups or stutters for over 3 hours now. Keep in mind with however much ram you have on your video card you may need to tweak the numer of frames that suits your system best. But with 512 MB on my video card this setting seems to work the best for me. Wish everyone luck, and hopes this works for you.

Where do you increase your prerendered frames? Doesnt make sense to me.

First of all, Alienware sucks! To me your post doesn't make sense. Your system runs things peachy, with everything maxed. Only after hearing people complain about it and then reading it on the forums, you decided to jump on the band wagon and complain too. The only one adolescent here is you. You were to lazy to go on beta and figure out if your system could handle it or not. Did you decide to, no. Now that the new version is out, you want to complain that its not running perfect on your "Alienware" system. Everyone on beta was doing it for the community, they were reporting bugs faster than HiTech and the rest of the crew could on their own. We helped HTC out so much by finding bugs. You were not part of it because you were lazy.

Right here... I think if everyone had followed my post and thought to remove conflicts between card setting and game setting the problems would be alot less numerous. Just a thought...

For me it is under the nVidia Control Panel.

And, if you use an ATI card, that option is called Flip Queue Size in ATI Tray Tools, to the best of my knowledge.

If you're going to use 'Maximum pre-rendered frames' (nvidia) or 'Flip Queue Size' (ATI), it's best to start off at 3 and lower if it you experience any mouse or text lag in any Direct3D game.

The drawback to using this feature is it can cause input lag.

Great advice Ack-Ack forgot to mention that it may hamper input devices, but it does state that it may in it's description. My bad.

I checked my system did necessary tweaks in beta. Now I don't have any major problems. After the first week there was usually only less than 5 people using it at any one time. So on this point the AH subscribers failed. So now the game is getting tested by the vast majority for the first time. And now there is whining.

The only issue I really have with the new patch is the water REALLY sneaks up on me. :D
