The Ju88A-4 is hardly seeing any usage. This is a shame as it is a good bomber.
The B-17G has 3686 kills and has been killed 5251 times.
The B-26B has 2649 kills and has been killed 4299 times.
The Lancaster III has 1620 kills and has been killed 4160 times.
The Il-2 has 1551 kills and has been killed 2566 times.
The TBM-3 has 440 kills and has been killed 2346 times.
The Ju 88 has 348 kills and has been killed 1429 times.
My sources indicate that Ju88A-4's sometimes had 13mm MG131 machine guns. The two 7.92mm ventral guns were sometimes replaced by 1 13mm gun and the two dorsal guns were also sometimes replaced with a single 13mm gun.
An additional 13mm gun was often mounted in the nose.
Others have much better info and have posted some of it here before.
If the Ju88A-4 could be given a selection of gun options it would certainly become more common. Except fot the guns it is a very good bomber.

CC Karnak, the adation of the 20mm MG FF in the noise as an option would be great as well, also some more bomb options would be nice, the larger series of German Bombs would be nice to have the 2k range, and above. Also what of those outer wing mounts for the 250kg bombs? And what of the drop tanks? it also could cary combanation loads drop tanks and bombs.
It is a great buff, can we have some more goddies to hange under it?
-
In fact Ju88 could fit extra fuel tank in part of the bombbay (50kg bombbay)
(or then im just messing it up with blenheim, which definately had possibility for that :P)
Most kills for me in Ju88 has been maneuver kills ;)
Best one is 5 kills in a flight - 4 maneuver kills and one shot off.. of course landed it.
-
My best was 2 N1K2-J's, an La7 and an Fw190 all shot down by my gun fire.
The second N1K2-J got me as well.
I still think that heavier guns would increase the usage of the Ju88A-4.

come now! if you fly LW you SIMPLY MUST FLY THE EARLIEST VERSION!
you must use pea shooters to defend yourself because the allied pilots are so lame at shooting you down and we must all cater for their ineptitude! :)
please give us the JU88 with NO GUNS!!!! Its only fair after all! :D
you must fly fw190a5s/a8s/doras with a special easy kill engine!!!
you must fly the special ground attack 190f8 WITHOUT the extra armour!!!
You must fly the 109G6 without MW50 or GM1!!!
and you must fly pre 1942 versions of SAME against the absolute minimum of 1943 USAAF planes!!!
this is the LAW when you fly in this game :)
right? or did i miss something? :P

A good vintage, hazed.

well, dowding, how many Lancasters had the tail twin 50cal turret in WWII?.
Wich tail turret does the Lanc carry in AH?.
you know how many Ju88s carried the 13mm?. And the 20mm MGff?. And even the Mauser 151/20?.
Wich guns do the Ju88A4 in AH carry?.
I dont cry "conspiration" ,but for sure is VERY annoying to have the easiest buff to kill in AH. Even the Lancaster have the 1-ping-1.5K wonder but the Ju88 is hopeless.

Give the LW the hardnose JU88C to counter the mossie!! +)

I couldn't give a flying toss-piece, mate. Why don't you answer your own questions?

Thank you for hijacking my thread with your eternal whining.

brady, the racks outboard of the engines were only on the A-5(an earlier model of Ju 88) afaik.
What Fishu said is true, the Ju 88A-4 could carry fuel tanks in the bomb bays: 1220l in the front bay and 680l in the rear bay. Just adding the forward tank almost doubles fuel capacity.
A Ju 88C-6 would be nice. 3x20mm with 120rpg + 3x7.92mm with 1000rpg, and 10x50kg bombs. 310mph top speed.

JESUS IT WAS A JOKE tinged with a little sarcasm.
hard nosed anal retentives everywhere.
this has all been said a hundred times before karnak.and photos of the MG151 mounted ju88 have proved there is no bombsite on the MG151 ju88, and also the 13mm rear guns could not be proven to be on the ju88 so the issue has long been settled.
The only hope we LW have of getting heavier armement would be the He-177 'Greif'.
Dowding funny that, you dont care what RAM says? just as we dont care if you think somethings a whine. Why dont you stop posting at all and do us all a favour? :)

Hi Juzz,
>the racks outboard of the engines were only on the A-5(an earlier model of Ju 88) afaik.
The outer wing racks were used on the A-4 as well as on the A-5. Even the Ju 188 had them!
According to the Baade Report, the Ju 88A-4 featured the following payload options:
Forward bomb bay: 900 kg of bombs (@ 50 kg each)
Aft bomb bay: 500 kg of bombs (@ 50 kg each)
Inboard wing root bomb racks: 1 x 1800 kg each
Outboard wing root bomb racks: 1 x 500 kg each
Outer wing bomb racks: 1 x 500 kg each.
(By comparison, the earlier A-5 model could only carry a 1800 kg bomb on one of the wing root racks, the other being limited to 1000 kg, while the outer wing racks were limited to 250 kg each.)
Regards,
Henning (HoHun)

...you dont care what RAM says?
I wasn't aware he was saying anything.
With this in mind, I refer you to my earlier comment.

This is very quickly found link (I don't bother to get 100 pages for you. I did get books of proves once and won't do it anymore just for the forum. I proved myself already then)

I guess this guy is tossing numbers out of his head.

Hazed,
The Do217 and Ju188 also have much heavier firepower. Don't fixate on the He177 too much.
-
karnak honestly im on your side here, just that i asked why all my books say it had 2 mg at the front, mentions 13mm mg and describes many different loadouts in posts last year. Basically, no matter what book i showed or quoted i was told by the usual mob of knowalls( :)) that the book was wrong etc.
So frustrated i gave up, thats the only reason i was being sarcastic, i was trying to save you the time of asking.
Ive also voted for ju188s and do 217s but eventually my personal choice settled on the he177 purely because i read an account of some raids in Russia it did. Also had a model of it when i was a nipper :D.
-
WTF!!
What is wrong with gettin multiple loadouts on the LW planes, when it OBVIOUSLY is possible on most USAF planes?? why cry WHINERWHINERWHINER when somebody tries to bolster LW force a bit, which is obciously needed in this game...???
Ju88 is the only buff germans have in here, and its utterly inept due to its bad rear gunnery...cant we get (1) model that has potent rear guns, when obviously the Lanc had to be bolstered to fit in??
/stomp out/

LW is seriously underhanded in ground attack roles. But then again, only 1 version of the planes we have now was a jabo plane.. and a hastily redesigned/adapted one too.
I would like to see more A/G ordenance on LW planes, but id like to see the me410 and the ju88C even more. Heck, the stuka would be mighty fun!
