Would someone please post a report on the La7's abilities? My computer got hosed, and I can't fly it on the day it arrived (cruel, cruel fate (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)). Tell me how it looks, how it flies. Is it as fast as many thought it would be? Please, ease my pain!

Acceleration: wow. It's like a hot knife thru butter, go from 150 mph to 300 in seconds in a gentle dive.
Speed: what I expected really- about 20 mph faster across the board, wep same as La-5FN was.
Paint!!! Veeery nice (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) The tail is especially pretty. 6 view is better than the La-5FN and the gunsight view is cleaner and better setup than the La-7 was. Much more view available over that big red nose (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
3 gun setup makes any sort of setup work in a snapshot. theres too much flying to miss really- and any hit under 300 hurts them. Quick squeezes work great instead of the old 2 gun hose requirement.
Stall: 100 mph without power turning I found the same as an La-5 really. Corner speeds are the same but it tends to drop wings faster in low speed turning. Vertical manuevers tend to move faster since you get moving faster up and down. Feels "slippery" when flying.
Unfortunatly the rudder response seems sluggish compared, those rudder twist shots at point blank need a better setup with the La-7 or you won't be able to get the nose across.

Almost 380mph at sea level, a smidge over 400mph at 20,000ft. The weird thing is that it's climbrate is EXACTLY the same as the La-5FN with 2 cannon!

Thanks a bunch, guys (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Good to know it screams down low. I knew the supercharger intake removal would help in shooting bigtime. Juzz, wrt the La7 with three 20mm, those guns were B-20s, which were 25kg in weight. ShVAKs were 42kg. So, you can see that three B-20s weighed less than two ShVAKs.

I thought it stalled a little sooner than the La5FN, but maybe thats the wingdrop that Sorrow talked about.
It everything you would expect and allows you to mix it up with the rest of the latewar big boys and fight on an even footing.(The Yak-9U can mix it up, it just can't kill anything)
And FINALLY a VVS plane that has a respectable snapshot, and the ability to kill without protracted tail chases.

Oops, I should clarify: I meant that with the same gun package as the La-5FN, the La-7 has an identical climbrate - to me that seems wrong. The La-7 was lighter, was it not? Even if it weighed the same, it's cleaner airframe would have to benefit climbrate even just a little...?

Karnak, ballistically the ShVak and B-20 cannons are identical. In fact they used the exact same ammuntion.
The big difference is that the B-20 gun itself weighed almost half as much as the ShVak gun did, allowing less weight per gun in the aircraft, or allowing the mounting of more guns for the same weight (ie the La7).

Best non-perked plane in game. Makes C-hog seem like a toy, even makes me look good.
Chased a D-9 down from 20K, then tore him to pieces. Couldn't run, roll or turn away from me. I only had trouble bleeding E.
