Title: Any help appreciated
Post by: bigmac75 on July 30, 2009, 01:00:51 PM
Has AH posted anything for general info for users that helps us tweek our systems to make the new version run better. Any help would be much appreciated. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 that has been upgraded to 1Gig of ram and a new Verto G-Force 8400GS 512MB PCI graphics card. I'm worried my processer might not be capable. I use high speed internet. But only about a 40 frame rate. 10 to 20 with FX enabld. I have tried making some in game adjustments but still have to disable water and terrain FX to stop the shuttering. This makes for horrible ground vis but enables me to a least up a fighter. I am sure this is a redundant question but would like any feedback I can get. Thanks

There's a tech support forum, and a hardware/software forum for this type of query :)  You're welcome to post there, and will probably get better help if you also posted a dxdiag info-dump too, and screenshots of any anomalies you're dealing with.

Here's how to get the dxdiag info dump:

You can copy-paste the dxdiag inside that text file, or send it to me and I'll host/post it for you :)

At first, with terrain effects disabled, I was hitting the ground quite often.  I was also having trouble with enemy planes blending in with the terrain.

I increased my Gamma to 1.5 and turned on the bumps.  On the slide page I increased the slider that goes from 3 to 0.5 (something to do with how far away the trees are displayed.

Try tweaking your graphics a little.  My FR is 70+ most of the time, as compared to 20-ish with everything except shadows.
