Hi
The very latest patch still cause some strange terrain pauses. It happens like every 2-3 sec.
It's same with minimum to medium settings with 256 or 512 texture sizes.
So far nothing helps.
Please, see the 3.5M video (save as..)

Some ideas...
*first, I don't like the idea of using XP home on a quad core, it just doesn't feel right, I use Vista
*upgrade directx to latest
*set page file to both min and max 4GB fixed size
*remove any un-needed cards from computer for testing (sound cards etc)
*try setting aceshigh to lower res, 1024x768 or 800x600, I get better results at lower res
*disable ALL possible programs running in the background, like AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, etc, for testing
*check for any OS or Firmware updates to your system hardware (cpu, motherboard, etc)
*check for viruses or spyware (Avria and SuperAntispyware are good combination for this)
*make sure your hard drive write cache is enabled in Device Manager, Disk Drives, properties
